The Valar announce that they've done as much as they can in Singularity (they can't bring back peoples' babies in that critical period either, but they can get them earlier versions) and are setting up portals between there and Sanity as soon as they are confident they've cleaned up the plague. A bunch of Elf architects have this wild idea for a fivedimensional city where alternating intersections are interdimensional portals between various Valinors and they get eagerly to setting it up.
He can't tell; circle's gone now. Probably dot standard; she's holding a light projector.
"If you were not expecting this to work and you don't know what you're doing you could get hurt, for one thing, and also if it's missing from a dot that could be a problem, and also I am impressed when people are clever and I'm guessing this required some cleverness."
"Well. Summoning works outside the dots, you're just not supposed to do it at home because of the 'might get hurt' thing."
"No. I'll make you some stuff and then go home. But that's the reason they're trying to be careful and I don't think they're being too careful."
"Watched 'em for a bit. Went down in boring clothes wearing wings I made out of ice and got out before they melted. Nobody stopped me or looked in my bag."
"That's good. Okay. So - I'm a demon. There are also angels - feathered wings - and fairies - bug wings. We're all indestructible. If you - uh, flash that light projector - it summons one of us under certain conditions on our behavior. Then usually what you do is make a deal with us to do magic for you in exchange for some payment. Angels change things, fairies move things, demons make things. If you've summoned one you become one when you die."
"I mean, yes, but they wake up healthy and with magic powers instead of just permanently ceasing to exist."
