The Valar announce that they've done as much as they can in Singularity (they can't bring back peoples' babies in that critical period either, but they can get them earlier versions) and are setting up portals between there and Sanity as soon as they are confident they've cleaned up the plague. A bunch of Elf architects have this wild idea for a fivedimensional city where alternating intersections are interdimensional portals between various Valinors and they get eagerly to setting it up.
"So the real aim here is obviously to do the best of all sets of us at figuring out what is going on. I don't think they had solid expectations about how long it'd take us, Cam looked genuinely impressed with me last night, so either they haven't been doing it for very long or me-now is better at this than me at various other intervention points but I can't think why I would be. What I really don't want is to be the same as most possible mes they do this to, but -"
"But you also want to be the one that gets it right and introducing noise for the sake of being different ruins that? That's very selfish, princess, you should be thinking of the good of Maitimes in your position as a collective -"
"Because if I do, all the other ones will! Or something like that, this is very confusing, I tried to consult my mother but she finds it less interesting than the languages and physics."
"I'm really pleased with it! Maybe we can keep some worlds at this apparent tech level for tourism reasons, unless there are major conveniences incompatible with this size of building."
"At least for the time being. People won't want to suddenly change everything- we get a lot of complaints that change is moving too fast as it is -"
"It sounds like a pretty awful problem as it stands. So - there are other worlds like mine but different times, we got that. There're also other worlds that aren't like this one at all? Just humans and demons and so on?"
