When Hyacinth comes home to her new apartment for the first time after a long day at university, it's to the sight of moving bots just finishing dropping off the last of her stuff and moving furniture into place. The full-immersion VR pod her parents gave her is safely hooked up in the pod room, her bed is in her bedroom, she has chairs and a desk and some bookshelves. Clothes are mostly still in boxes, waiting to be hung up in the closet. Holovid and a cozy chair occupy the living room. She doesn't have any food in the small kitchen yet.
Sable wakes up first the next morning, sighing contentedly at her girlfriend(s) in her arms.
And Hyacinth wakes a few moments after that, her body warm and light against Sable's.
"Mmmm... Morning," she sighs.
She leans in and kisses Sin's forehead with a warm smile. "Morning, love. How'd you sleep?"
"Solid."
She rolls over, freeing herself from Sable's wings, then gets up and sits on the side of the bed.
She looks back over her shoulder. "Um. Did the request go through overnight?"
"Definitely. I'm gonna buy the weightlessness coupon for it, too."
She buys it immediately and attaches it to the tent, then sighs with relief.
"Phew. I have my whole inventory back again."
"Good. That's good to hear."
Hyacinth re-equips her clothes. There's a little tension in her shoulders and gut this morning. She shrugs it aside and heads downstairs without waiting for Sable to catch up.
Sable hustles after her, equipping her clothes on the way to the door. She falls into step beside her and offers a hand to hold.
... Yeah, she'll hold Sable's hand.
The wallpaper in this inn is really nice. Kind of floral.
This is acceptable.
She'll eat quietly.
A house... a kitsune kit...
The thought doesn't quite gel together.
"Just..."
This cheese is nice and creamy. Soft. Spreadable.
"... it's been three days and we're going to move in together and maybe raise a kitsune kit..."
"We are so, so U-Hauling."
Hibiscus giggles.
"Um. I think... There's still a lot we don't know about each other. We — I don't even know if I really do romance, to be honest. Hya's good at it but I'm not her, and — we've never been great at responsibility..."
"... But we want to try. We want to move in with you and get a pet and... see if we can have the kind of life we want. Together."
"I believe in us. I believe we can manage it. I mean, I do romance hard enough and weird enough to make up for the fact that Hibi might not, y'know? There isn't a limit to how much I love, or how hard. There isn't a reciprocation requirement beyond wanting to spend tender time together. We'll just figure it out, y'know?"
"Yeah..."
She fingers her glass of water and takes a small drink. It's cold.
"We'll figure it out. Together."
