Lotus Pier had been retaken months ago, but the bulk of the Jiang Sect's new recruits had been needed in the war effort. With the villainous Wen Ruohan defeated and the war over it is finally time to get Lotus Pier back up and running.
A number of young cultivators tread through shallow water, planting lotus seedlings. Others are leading boats heavy with wooden planks through deeper channels. Still more are using that wood to repair raised walkways and construct buildings. A few are managing the recruitment of new members, looking for especially promising teens and anyone with skill in cultivation.
One man, pale and black-clad, is day drinking on his own in a patch of burned-out ruins at the back of Lotus Pier that hadn't been cleared away yet.
"We are a bit low on cultivators at the moment. Will it be a problem that you only have one member of your cultivation path here, since yours takes multiple people? I don't know how your sect would feel about teaching it to outsiders, or for that matter if our paths are similar enough for one of us to learn to chant without having to start over from scratch."
"My sect would be happy with me teaching to an outsider."
Not a total lie, maybe? She doesn't know what enough of these words really mean, with how poorly they seem to be translating- sect???- but she doesn't want to reveal her lack of knowledge more than she already has.
"There's only one way to find out if you can learn."
"Just tell me what to do and I'll try!"
Hopefully it doesn't interact badly with either local traditional cultivation or demonic cultivation, or lead to interactions that might reveal certain things about Wei Wuxian's cultivation that he'd rather keep secret. On the other hand, he is absolutely not going to let anything get between him and trying exciting new things. He'll just figure out how to deal with anything that comes of it later.
