This is a lot, but he thinks he understands. 'What language you speak at home' is not an easy test, but he sees how you could use it to see what you are.

(Élie is entirely capable of turning Rahim into a real dragon himself, but does not want to deal with the consequences).

"Dragons can fly all by themselves," he repeats in Draconic. "And when you're older, you'll be – if you want, you can be a great wizard. We can fly all by ourselves too."

"I can be a wizard sometimes too," agrees Rahim. "What do wizards speak?"

"Azlanti," he says immediately. "And if you want to know what witches speak, you'll have to ask your mama."
