:Oh yeah, you're not supposed to go near the edges of the world. Though I guess we might do it now? We'll be careful if we do, though. None of the other words you said made all that much sense to me but I showed them to some people who've actually studied math.:

:Definitely seems like something to be careful about, even if gravity wasn't all weird!

How many people are you travelling with? ...and where are you going?:

:Oh, all the Noldor are going, a hundred twenty thousand. We're going to stop Melkor.:

:Oh. Wow.  I'm guessing Melkor is the reason Valinor might not be safe anymore?:

:Uh, if it's not too much trouble, I would really appreciate more general context about what's going on,: he adds a moment later.

Excellent - that's hard confirmation that we're in time to avert the FKS. (Going off first contact tone is pretty reliable, but there's a slight chance that you just get an unusually open Quendi a bit later in the timeline, or vice versa.) It's still unclear if this is before or after the attempt to cross the ice, and we're hoping for before (it'll mean higher morale and more supplies, and a better situation on the ground in Beleriand), but either way, things are looking good for this run.

By now, the conversation has been going on for long enough that we can assume that our conversation is being forwarded to the Feanoreans (probably the Nolofinweans as well, but more die-hard Feanoreans will stall on looping them in for at least a little while, there's already a fair amount of distrust between the two groups), which means we can start laying the groundwork for a smooth MSS (Maitimo Suspicion Subgame), which is mandatory for any run where Maitimo's in play.

You'll be hearing me talk a lot about Maitimo over the course of this run, and that's because in this category, he's by far the most dangerous allied character. His social stats are absurdly high, which is of course extremely helpful when we're working with him. However, it also means he's the most likely by a wide margin to notice if we're act in a way that only makes sense if we had future knowledge, which would of course trigger the notorious MSL (Maitimo Suspicion Loss). Early on, MSLs were by far the most frequent way a run would end, and they still come up pretty often, especially for newer runners.  However, we've been routing this category for years, now, and we've put a ton of work into crafting a backstory for ourselves that will deflect suspicion into much safer areas.
