don't wait until twilight
no, mr. araki, she does not want to be nicknamed "belbel"

The Belmont clan has seen better days, though it's also seen worse ones.

Julius Belmont, of the then-current main family line, inherited the long-lost whip in 1999 and purportedly slew Dracula permanently. His worldwide invasion did at least seem to vanish with the castle, but the Church doesn't actually put much stock in the prophecies of Nostradamus, however much they hoard his works in their secret archives.

Julius himself is nowhere to be found, and the whip is gone with him. The main family line at the time was comprehensively assassinated, including his fiancée, who was reportedly not pregnant at any rate. All the European branches were similarly eradicated, root and branch; the same seems to have occurred in Asia and Africa, though there are some hopeful cases where death was never actually confirmed. More distant relatives exist, but the Church determined them to lack proper Belmont blood.

But a small American branch existed too, in Texas near the Morris descendants, and was only almost assassinated down to its last member. Her betrothed was killed along with her family, for some reason—not like she could have gotten him pregnant with a future Belmont, even ignoring that they were both 11—but Isabella survived thanks to having Morris hunters in the neighborhood, who were not initially targeted—very sloppy—and was evacuated by the Church.

No whip, no family, no husband to carry on the bloodline, but she's trained enough from childhood, and the Church assures her she's a perfectly capable Belmont. They've moved her around a lot in the years since then; she's moving again, to the Pacific Northwest for now, under the protection of Church mage and very distant cousin Cygnus Fernandez. A new combat instructor should be sent along within a few months to teach her alongside him; God only knows if they'll ever find her a new fiancé. For now, she's still laying low.
