She does not manage to entirely avoid using her new power. She describes it to her father as like keeping her eyes closed all the time -- she has a new perfectly good set of "eyes" and it's hard, actually, to not use them at all, to never even flick them "open" for a moment to check something. (That isn't what it feels like, not really, but the analogy gives him the right idea.) She learns to operate the her hands like tools, bending the fingers to her use with only a little lingering clumsiness.

She thinks, probably, she could get used to keeping her metaphorical eyes closed. It would just be a matter of forming the habit, of letting her instincts gradually forget that they have the option of doing otherwise. But -- she doesn't want to never reach out again, never feel herself become one with the world around her. It's not even just that it's a nice feeling, or that it's useful to her personally -- it seems like she can sense a lot, when she reaches, and her slip-ups haven't actually backlashed her all that much. She's pretty sure she could do dungeons, with this.

So it's with that intent that she goes to her first mixer. She'll find someone she's compatible with; she'll get around to getting an agent; she'll figure out how to use her power sustainably, how to actually be helpful with it, and then she'll use it.

She picks a name to go by at the mixer. There's nothing good left in English, so she goes with Turkish; it's a little silly as a codename, but codenames are a little silly anyway, though she does like not having to use her real name. And at least people will probably pronounce it right even if they only speak English.

She's gotten lucky. Just being an esper feels physically great; there's no longer such pressure to figure out what to do after school, or even necessarily to finish; there's a clear, obvious, useful thing to do with her power, and she even feels like she'll be able to handle her backlash. So what if she might rack up a little more backlash than absolutely ideal, by reaching out when she didn't mean to? It'll just be a bit more time spent guiding.

She's got this.
