Another day dawns, isolated and alone, in a backwater town in north Louisiana that thinks it deserves to call itself a city. She hauls herself out of bed with a sigh. The house is decaying, too large for her, and she's all alone in it since her roommate lied, stole, and relapsed his way back into rehab.
She steps slowly into the kitchen, debating whether to bother with making a real breakfast. After a moment, she sighs and pulls a microwavable burrito out of the freezer and has that instead. When did she last put any effort into cooking something worthwhile?
She can't remember.
She eats it, listlessly, before sitting down at her desk to clock in for work.
