There's a lot of Middle Earth beyond the coastline - the most well known areas to Numenor are the coastal cities of the Noldor, the small dwarven settlements still clinging to life in the Blue Mountains, and the thin scattering of native Men. But there's towns and villages and pastures networks of wild lands beyond that - a great road plunges from the largest elven haven to the southeast, running towards Eregion and Khazad-dum and the natural overland passes through the imposing Misty Mountains. They hear the most gossip about Eregion and Khazad-dum - the names aren't unknown to Numenor, of course, but they have little to do with either kingdom directly in the normal course of things.
