"How curious. Though possession, voluntary or otherwise, is not what one would term a well-studied field."

"I imagine being possessed by your own alts would affect things, as well – as would both people involved having a talent for battle meditation..."

"Possibly. A pity we have limited options to experiment without such confounding factors."

"I can possess other people, too, if anyone other than my alts wants to play around, and even my living alts could probably learn the trick – what I'm doing honestly to me feels like a natural extension of my battle meditation, albeit more focused and therefore more powerful."

"Hmm."

"Sounds fun."

"I'll talk to your Master about battle meditation lessons, how about?"

"That'd be Lily for me, Elesse for Sangua..."

"It has my approval, though I would like to observe."

Nod. "Sangua might struggle with it – I was actively using battle meditation when I first fell to the Dark Side, and I kept using it in that fight and right after – but once I fully stopped... I couldn't use battle meditation again, or any of my related skills at all, not while I was still drawing on the Dark Side. Not while I still thought of myself as Vader."

"Perhaps. Though circumstances here are less... traumatic."

"It felt like there were... Core, structural issues – I used the Dark Side as a child as well, and I don't think I could've learned battle meditation then – but you reach for the Force differently than I did, and even in my system, battle meditation using the Dark Side is entirely possible – my Sidious was exceptionally skilled at it."

"As I said, I would like to observe. In hopes of shedding light on such things."

Thoughtful hum. "A way of studying the Force itself?"

"In part. We have here represented a fair few universes by now, and though we have all been assuming our powers are fundamentally the same, and while they do seem interoperable and share basic principles in common, I wonder if there might not be more subtle distinctions that escape our notice."

She nods. "There are also at least two fundamentally different systems in play – parahumans and especially meguca. Also, most universes that Bet – where I'm from – has contacted entirely lack hyperspace access, as well as the Force as we know it."

"I wonder if the phenomena are related."

"It's possible..."

"...Hm. If universes with the Force always have hyperspace and vice versa, I wonder if investigating the differences in hyperspace could illuminate things – the Force is famously difficult to measure, but even subtle differences in space-time could be investigated with instrumentation – and that data might've already been collected." Wry smile. "Assuming we can find a droid to compare all that data, of course."

"I am sure with our collective resources we could acquire or commission something suitable."

"Time differences might be an issue if this involves jumping between worlds – time is passing much slower on Bet and the universes it's previously been in contact with than it is here – but they do sync when we're in active communication, at least."

"Interesting..."

Nod. "About fifteen minutes or so passed for me between my vision of the local Anakin and when we jumped over, but it'd been five years for her. Ruby – the meguca who brought me over in the first place – retrieved the rest of our crew after enough time had passed for us that it should've been noticeable for them if the worlds had synced, and..." She pauses, quickly pings Ruby to make sure, then: "We're not sure how much of a time difference there is now, the gap is too large to easily measure, but time hadn't noticeably passed."

"...Huh, yeah, there was a time difference for us, too – not nearly as major, but it was still only a couple weeks, not five years. It hadn't even occurred to me to investigate that more..."

"It's not too surprising you had other things on your mind – we noticed right away because part of the reason we came over so quickly is that we thought we could use this universe to outflank an enemy in our home universe."

"I wonder if it will remain consistent, or change over time."
