A cat drops into minecraft

The scene looks normal enough, on the surface. A few scattered and oddly square trees dot the plains. A few dandelions and poppies add a splash of color to the greens and browns. A rabbit or two dart around in the grasses.

Luna yawns, blinking against the sunlight. It didn't seem like all that long since they'd laid down for a nap, and yet here they were already waking up again, in another place and another body.

...actually, this place is a lot weirder than the places they usually dream themselves into. Most of their dreams involve complicated human things that always seem to make more sense during the dream than after it, but this dream seems strangely different. Those trees don't seem quite right, for one thing. Trees are usually supposed to be rounder?

Sitting up, Luna examines their limbs with more confusion. No, something is definitely not quite right about this body. Humans normally have hands and feet, not these... blocky stubs? Hmm...

Luna spots a rabbit nearby, and is completely distracted from their previous line of thought. Abandoning further consideration of their weird new body, they get on all fours and bound across the land, making quick frenetic leaps towards the tiny creature.

It can run really quite fast, but it’ll die after it gets hit a few times!

…and disappear, leaving behind an oddly-shaped piece of fur/skin and some meat.

Huh. Tiny things often die when Luna pounces them, but that usually just means that they bleed and stop moving, not... poof into scraps of fur and meat. That's weird.

Rather than ponder the oddity too much, they lean in close and sniff at the meat. Maybe it'll be good to eat?

It is good to eat!

Yay! Weird blocky tree dream is a good dream!

Are there more tasty little things around?

Yep! There are some smaller brown ones, and some larger brown ones. There are also some bird-ish things.

Luna also has a sudden awareness that they somehow have an invisible storage… thing? And the pelt is in it?

What? Luna's pretty sure they don't normally have an invisible storage thing. Why do they have an invisible storage thing now? And how do they get things out of it?

Luna ponders this mystery for a minute or so. Maybe the weird dream instinct that let them know about the invisible storage thing will also let them know how to get the pelt back out again? Dream instincts have taught Luna stranger things before... like "clothes", and "language".

“Take thing out” is just a mental action that they can now take!

Neat!

Luna takes the fur out and puts it back a couple times, just for the novelty of seeing the thing appear and vanish.

Satisfied with their storage for now, Luna goes after another rabbit. Perhaps tasty things can be stored, too?

That works as well! They also get another fur.

Luna has a joyful time depopulating the area of rabbits, storing away snacks and fur.

But there are only so many rabbits nearby, and eventually they get bored.

What else is there to play with around here?

Well, there’s some sort of white feathered bird things over there, a forest over that way, and a river sort of leftish.

Birds are neat!

Hard to catch, though. It takes quite a bit of sneaking to get one before it can fly away.

Stalking is a fun game, though, and Luna decides to give it a try.

This bird is apparently very stupid; it only tries to get away after it’s been attacked, and even then it only runs around in circles. It probably can’t fly?

A little disappointing, as stalking targets go, but Luna's hardly going to let it get away!

It’s caught fairly easily.

A large piece of raw bird meat and a single feather are now on the ground.

Scoop!

The bird wasn't as fun to catch as the squirrels were, but maybe it's tasty?

It is!

But they've already eaten quite a bit today, and bird catching wasn't quite as interesting as squirrel hunting. Maybe Luna will play with the birds again later.

For now, they bound over towards the forest. Perhaps there are interesting things around the blocky trees?
