"I was going to ask you where the kitchen is, but you haven't been here before either."

"We can explore the house! Or ask a servant!"

"It'd be worthwhile looking around to find where everything is."

Here is: a badly decorated living room! A badly decorated parlor! A badly decorated probably also a living room!

"...the Duke really has awful taste."

"He's consistent at least?"

"Is he, though? Or is he equally inconsistent in every room?"

"Consistent inconsistency is a kind of a consistency."

"I suppose."

Library! With absolutely no books in it! Just a bunch of empty bookshelves.

"An aspirational library is at least different."

"The Duke of Phandros doesn't much like reading."

"And the library came with the house?"

"I suppose so! Or maybe he's procrastinating on filling it up."

"Fair enough, I guess." It's not his house.

Bedrooms! So many bedrooms. This house has a lot of bedrooms.

Well, it's meant to house the Duke and presumably his family and servants, so that makes sense.

"I guess you can pick whichever of those you want to be your bedroom, and I'll-- be next door? Or sleep on your floor."

"Next door would suit me?" He picks the one with the nicest view out the window. (And if asked to justify it, he'll say he was looking for a room where he'd be able to get a breeze.)

"I don't mind sleeping on your floor, and I do want to keep you safe."

"... Are the good gods likely to attack me while I'm sleeping?"

"I don't know. I don't like assuming things."

"That's... Fair enough. We can see about moving in a bed or a cot for you?"

He calls for a halfling to move a second bed in. 

... That is a lot of bed for one three foot person, but he doesn't know how to help without getting in the way. "Thank you."

"You're welcome!" says the halfling, who has been thoroughly briefed.
