...Fine, he'll raise it slightly. "But you won't get a better offer from Rathimus or anyone else, you hear me?"

...huh. Neat. She nods.

Can she afford the glasses, now? And does he have any mendable clothes or whatnots?

She can afford the glasses!

He doesn't sell clothing that isn't magic (and even a Sleeves of Many Garments is out of her price range), but he recommends Fine Fittings as having reasonably polite staff if she wanted to see about getting something tailored.

Great. Muvaki will buy the glasses, with some money left over.

She turns to Ember uncertainly, not sure what to do next. (Food? Clothes? They should have enough money for both? Mend the glasses first?)

Ember will take her back outside so they can talk without the shopkeeper overhearing and then suggest that she mend the glasses in case they run into more guards.

She nods! She did prepare Mending today. (It takes a while to cast, so they'll need to head somewhere quiet to do that?)

They can go back to their nook? Or if she wants somewhere even more quiet than that they could find a back alleyway, but they aren't as nice for sitting in.

Nook is good! She'll follow Ember to the nook and cast Mending.

(It takes ten entire minutes. She squats over the glasses the whole time.)

Ember can be patient!

She finishes casting the spell, puts on the glasses, and looks at Ember. How do they look?

Smile. "I think they look cute! Can you see alright?"

She nods! "A little better, I think."

...she's going to miss them really badly when they stop being a thing but for now they are really nice

"Do you want to see if we can get you replacement clothes?"

Oh right, clothes. She nods. "Seems smart." 

...she should probably let go. so they can. do that.

(She does eventually manage this.)

As soon as they walk in the door of Fine Fittings, it's clear that the gnome who owned the magic item shop was not exactly aiming for a budget-friendly recommendation. The target clientele seems to be foreign adventurers, not Kenabres's nobility, but even if there's a sense in which Muvaki could technically be considered a foreign adventurer most of them have rather more resources.

The woman currently staffing the shop looks pityingly at Muvaki's ill-fitting clothing. "Now, that simply won't do at all for a fine young lady. Tell me, what are you looking for?"

This place is Too Fancy and Muvaki has zero positive associations with Fancy!!! 

She looks to Ember for help. 

She smiles at the shopkeeper. "We were just looking around! ...I think this isn't going to be quite what we're looking for, but thank you anyway!"

Muvaki nods in agreement, and moves to hide behind Ember slightly. 

"...sorry," she whispers belatedly.

"It's okay!"

And they can leave.

"...It's been a long time since I've been to a store for clothes, I'm not sure which ones would be better..."

Hmmmm. "Could we... go buy some bread, and ask the baker if he knows a place?"

"I bet we can!" She trots off towards the bakery.

Yay! A useful idea!
