Mae always likes the ramps: she doesn't need them, but they're so much fun to run down!

Giggling with relief at finding their stop successfully, she happily scampers down to the street below.

Audrey follows, a grin on her face, but makes sure to look back like Mama taught her so she can remember how to get back here. 

"That was fun!" 

Outside in the street, they're surrounded by shops and the occasional high-rise. It seems this is a less-built-up area of the city. The buildings are marked with kaleidoscopic murals, with windows peeking out of the bright colors. The library that they're there for has prominent signage outside declaring "WESTVIEW BRANCH LIBRARY" with an image of a daisy; it looks pseudomedieval, with stained glass in the windows and a statue outside of a bird-winged woman sitting cross-legged and wearing headphones as she reads.

Across the street is a tall high-rise with the legend WESTVIEW NOOKHOUSE, and then a convenience store ("Bright's"), an oddity shop that seems to sell used books, tabletop games, vinyl records, and sweets ("Westview Arts"), and a tabletop il'ka (by the board games in the windows and the smell of coffee floating out of it) that brands itself as "HEXAGON HALL". Back from the road another lane there's four-story condos that look like they're residential housing. 

Oh yay! Some of those look like places they can get food later!

Mae trots happily towards the library, just barely remembering to make sure her sister is following as she looks up at the tall, ornate building.

Audrey trots along happily, rubbernecking to take in the sights. 

The interior of the library is lit by skylights from up high above, and is in a rotunda style with raised balconies around a lower basement floor. Stained-glass throws colorful patterns everywhere. 

There's a desk at the front, with a perhaps sixteen year old librarian who is currently reading something that looks rather torrid and vampire-influenced, by the cover of a woman being pressed into another and bitten on the neck, her bare back to the camera. Red letters on the cover spell out "Love At First Bite." 

"Woah, it's gorgeous!"

Mae loves libraries, but she's never been to this one before, and it's so pretty. She also kind of likes the look of that book the librarian is reading: she's totally gonna ask her about it if she gets the chance. She likes vampires.

For now though: exploring! There might be puzzles to solve or people to meet but no matter what there are books!

She heads off to the shelves, Audrey in tow, and begins looking through the stacks: browsing the spines of interesting books, looking at the displays, and keeping an eye out for anyone or anything interesting.

The library is in a rotunda style. It looks like the public books are in the center, while the rest of the library is organized into "stacks rooms" that each have a crest on the door. Mae doesn't recognize any of the symbols immediately, but the doors have card readers next to them and trying the handles gets Mae nowhere. There's a spiral staircase up to a second floor; from what they can see from down here it looks like the second floor is mostly dedicated to meeting rooms. 

In the center of the center of the library is a makerspace with custom-print machines, as well as a large playspace full of modelling bricks from the standard systems. A couple of medium scale tree models have been built already and are standing as displays. There's a sign next to them saying "You break it, you rebuild it!"

There are quite a few people milling around; some of ages close to theirs, some a little older. It seems like most of the people here are younger than 18 though - compared to an Earth room there's an almost utter lack of adult supervision. The oldest person in the room looks to be an older teen, again maybe 16, who is lazing in a chair in a small nook off the center, with a security camera setup of most of the public library and a vest on that reads "PUBLIC SECURITY." They're on their phone at the moment, but their gaze occasionally glances up at the monitors to check the perimeter.
