Blai continues to not get a Sending or a scry or a visit from a teleporter.
One day when he heads into the galley, the windows aren't covered anymore.
Blai nods. "If you do manage to nick them a bit they will not stop functioning, they're intended for use in lethal combat."
Not having his armor on makes him slightly sleepy by default since that is the normal reason to not be wearing armor but he does not protest this. Are there other meeting things to meet about?
They'll get his items back to him shortly.
"We in fact have determined there are some metals in there which we wouldn't have expected from normal armor or maces."
"The mace in particular is cold iron to bypass some of the protection demons have against damage."
"I'm willing to relocate wherever is convenient and be guided by whatever questions you have."
It will become gradually clear here that Blai distinguishes between, approximately, "races" (various kinds of people whose disposition is mostly about their culture and who potentially vary a lot in personality, even if their monospecific society at has a strong bend in one direction, including orcs, elves, dwarves, halflings, gnomes, and hybrids with some human in 'em), "monsters" (both people and potentially dangerous large or magical animals whose behavior is predictable almost entirely based on their species alone, like dinosaurs, dragons, bulettes, fey, no-longer-petitioner outsiders, etc., even though exactly who they are a monster to will depend on what they are, such as what color the dragon is and therefore its alignment), and "animals" (which has some overlap with "monsters" but also includes, like, seagulls).
Elves are reputed to be from another planet so they are probably not the same species. Lots of things can interbreed; humans might be among the most interfertile species. It's probably either humans or dragons.
But yes, he needs sleep.
In the morning there is breakfast, and Chris with a list.
"We've put together a list of some things it would be good to get done, since there isn't an obvious first one for today."
"The hospital visit will be most efficiently timed for when they have injured patients and a suitably efficient space for me to heal them in, do they have that already?"
"There's over half a million people in DC, there's probably always injured patients. I would expect that they can pick a good space?"
"The ideal space will probably need to be custom built, but an open field with something for me to stand on would work for a good-enough one. That should happen today but not necessarily early in the day if they haven't already sorted out which patients will be in the two available batches and gotten them to a chosen place."
