Running. It's a thing that humans do. They run. They're good at long-distance endurance, they're not too bad at short distance sprints, and some people run for fun. Like Theo. He's running a 400m dash, he started about 25 seconds ago, and he's about halfway through. That's pretty quick for someone who just started running properly at the beginning of the year. He gets first place. The other runners don't seem thrilled.
Well, feel free to ask for our - specifically Felix's - help if anything happens. He feels bad over making you uncomfortable, you might even extract some prophetically answered question out of him.
That's okay. Theo didn't have anything else to add.
A few days later, Theo's in a bit of a pickle. He thought it would be a gradual increase in strength, not a sudden one, and so... he had a bit of a mishap with the weights.
He e-mails Fenris back: I'm guessing you didn't realise it would be a sudden change in ability? Because it was.
I'm okay now, but it was a bit surprising to be lifting weights and then to fling them because they suddenly felt really light. I can handle it.
Okay. Be careful then. Also, we never told you the extend of our powers, is that the kinda of thing you would want to be see in person?
Yeah, probably. I think you mentioned a couple of things, but it'd be nice to see what you can do.
We have a place that is good place to use our abilities without being worried. When do you have an afternoon free?
I should be free tomorrow โ are we going to meet somewhere then go there afterwards, or do you have directions?
We have a car. Either way is good. Fenris sends an address that is a little too far for Theo to go by himself.
That's a bit out of the way from where I live โ maybe if you pick me up halfway? He names a place that they can find him, and suggests a time.
I'll be there.
Theo will find Fenris standing against the back of his car, hands on his pockets looking oddly interested at a nearby tree.
Theo walks up to him, notices the look at the tree, and says, "Hey. ... Is there something wrong with that tree?"
Pretty great. Before we leave. I have a small warning, we are meeting there because we have a gryphon and an unicorn.
If Fenris bluntness was literal, Theo would have bruise in the morning.
They're people and come apart of the Heir package. Tammy is the gryphon and his partner, can turn herself and people she touches invisible. Vera is the unicorn and my partner, she can heal like Felix. Both can't die of old age... Vera is very excited to meet you, but she is polite, sometimes shy.
Fenris is content to drive in silence.
Eventually they reach their destination, talls walls and trees completely obscure the street's view of the house. Once the automatic door is up, they see a modest house with the backyard's view obscured by a tall hedge and even more trees.
It truly is, "agressively alive" comes as a descriptor, hard to believe so much green can exist so close to London.
Felix opens the door, likely informed by Fenris telepathically.
"Hi again, Theo."
"Good. Taking care of magical beasts, sneaky healing during volunteer work, trying to divine where other magical people are, same old. How about you?"
You can almost touch how much he wanted to say those words.
