Hailey's having a pretty great day. She's out on a Sunday drive with her wife, in their gorgeously restored '69 Mustang Mach 1. It's a beautiful day, the wind whistling through the trees on gently curving Long Island roads as her car roars around the turns.
That gets a faint hint of a smile from her. Yelena's always been good people.
"Five and change."
Ami waves a small, loose wave and sits down at the bar.
"One can only hope for another five to come—as much as we'd miss you."
She smiles bittersweetly. "I hope so. The road out'll be even bloodier than last time, though, and I think I'm gonna miss people more."
Ami winces. "…You won't be the only one."
Gods, she does not want to think about that right now. Getting Hailey through this is something good to focus on, but as much as she wants the best for her friend, the thought of not seeing her again for another five years is one she really can't bear to dwell on.
"Oh, same old wonders: running an assassin bar, movie dates with the wife, trying out her latest creations downstairs in the range," she replies with an easy smile. "You two want your usuals?"
Hailey looks thoughtfully out at the club. Five years since she last stepped foot in this place. Hopefully another five after this. She'll kill to achieve that, if there's even a spark of a chance, but something tells her she might not get to.
Well. Her path forward is the same regardless.
Iosef dies. Viggo probably does too, if he can't let go.
Along with everyone Viggo sends.
Ami sees the expression on Hailey's face and reaches over to gently squeeze her arm. Words wouldn't be good or useful right now, but she can at least give Hailey a reminder that she's not alone.
She smiles softly over at Ami.
Yeah. Ami helps.
This mess would suck a lot worse without her.
Not long after that, Yelena interrupts them.
"Here you go, compliments of the management."
She sets a Moscow mule in front of Hailey, and a scofflaw in front of Ami.
She nods to Yelena and picks up her drink to take a sip, then notices writing on the napkin.
Red Circle
Ami smiles faintly and sips her drink. It's delicious, as always.
They sit and drink in happy silence for a few minutes, but Ami is standing as soon as her drink runs dry.
She smiles. "Alright. Club?"
Hailey knocks back the last of her mule and nods, making for the door. "Let's go get dressed for a night out. You got everything you need nearby?"
Hailey is only waiting a few minutes before she hears another knock at her door and sees Ami waiting there for her, a smile on her face and a collection of pistols and knives peeking through their concealment at her sides.
Hailey grins wryly at her friend, wearing a three-piece suit, perfectly-tailored to hug her curves and give her freedom of movement while concealing her pistol, a silencer, six mags, and eight knives.
