She's thinking something more like the latter? Trying to touch or telepath him seems... unwise.

A spark blooms.

He's not showing stroke symptoms (no bilateral asymmetry) or concussion symptoms (pupil response normal and balanced), but he's clearly not very oriented to place or person. The intuition suggests that she should check whether he's oriented to time, to narrow down the options.

Okay not the most helpful, but honestly not too unreasonable? He doesn't look coherent enough to answer questions, though.

Um - do we say we? No, that's a silly question, he probably has kryptonian senses which should make it obvious that robin is here if he pays any attention to what's going on, it's fine.

"We're not here to hurt you. We can help you get out of here, if you want that."

Her voice is soft and gentle, but hopefully not too demeaning or anything?

Goodness this is awkward to do without a communication sidechannel.

"Out!" he lurches to his feet, stumbling toward the door.

There is the distant sound of something smashing and/or collapsing.

Oh, see how he suddenly got more motivated when you were hopeful at him? It's very uncommon a priori, but his symptoms could match a case of soul arrhythmia, where his brain, soul, and body aren't occupying compatible states.

...That's a thing? What's up w/ that?

Okay, she's going to fly out in front of him, and try to guide him to the elevator shaft, and make a big platform of blue light for him to walk / jump / stumble onto? Doing some sort of finnicky flight aura when his powers are plausibly also spasming out is likely not a great idea, though it might also mean he does have the kryptonian powers he hasn't been displaying? Hard to tell.

Robin, no longer in imminent danger of being pummeled, follows along to help herd him as necessary.

They manage to guide him out into the elevator shaft, just in time for a water whip to throw a large grey-and-red humanoid into the side of the shaft above their heads.

"Yipe!"

Robin grabs at the boy in the jumpsuit and drags him back through the door, out of the way of the falling antagonist.

She tries to be gentle and helpful about it and facilitate it and this is objectively a pretty good sign of general progress but also aa! Hopefully isn't too bad, since he seems... mostly oriented enough to be goal directed and aware of what's around him and everything?

"Apologies! We're working on it!"

"You've not seen the last of me!" the rapidly-descending antagonist informs them.

Kid Flash sticks his head over the edge.

"You guys missed a hell of a fight!"

The boy in the suit throws a punch at Robin, who rolls to evade it.

"Let me out!"

"Oop! Or not. What's his deal?"

...Is she going to get any more from that power about 'soul arrythmia' or is she on her own, here?

She asked for a diagnosis power, not a treatment power. There's a rubric she could use to be more certain of the diagnosis?

Sure! What's up there?

Symptoms of soul arrythmia (including the odds that a given case will present with that symptom) include:

  • Diminished magical presence (3:1)
  • Mood swings (5:1)
  • Difficulty focusing (all known cases)
  • Reduced large-scale motor coordination (symmetrical) (2:1)
  • Small-scale motor tremors (symmetrical) (4:1)
  • Increased susceptibility to emotional contagion (21:2)

If the patient has a familiar bond:

  • Familiar lethargic (9:1)
  • Familiar distressed when patient calm or vice versa (11:1)

Additionally, patients who did not awaken naturally from sleep and those with persistent hormone imbalances are at increased risk for soul arrythmia (base rates increased 122:121 and 32:29, respectively).

Multiply likelihood ratios and compare to likelihoods for maladies with overlapping symptoms, such as dehydration or neurodegenerative disorders.

"He's some sort of kryptonian human hybrid bioweapon project? Not too sure on the details. He's a little unfocused and disoriented. I think he might have some sort of magical problem relating to his mind body connection? I don't think he's actively hostile, though, and he should really get some medical attention soon, if he's up for it."

That seems... pretty likely, given what she's seen? And if he's experiencing that, there's also pretty good odds that there's something else gnarly going on with how his mind and/or body came to be, now that she thinks about it.

"Kid Flash, can you scout the—"

With the elevator shaft clear once again (and jumpsuit boy not staying focused long enough to remember to fight people if they back off for a few moments) they're able to make it back up to the first floor (where the smoke has gotten quite bad) and out.

...Good good.

"Is Miss Martian alright? And... There's still more to do inside - the fire, investigating the mental network, sweeping up everyone we can, figuring out what's going on. But first, someone should probably call the league in, and we probably need someone to mind" she glances over at the kryptonian-human hybrid. "him 'til he's in a better state. Who's staying up here for the latter two things, and who's going back down?"

"Well, I can't get down as easily as you can," Robin notes. "I don't know if any of my sedatives are safe to give him, but I can keep him away from people and hope—"
