She discusses her goals obligingly and smiles faintly at her last comment.

"Yes."

"And you understand that the Justice League is a free association of like-minded individuals, and not a formal command organization? And that therefore, outside of immediate emergencies, I have no authority to give you orders, nor to influence your advancement in your chosen career?" she continues.

She perks up a non-zero amount!

"I understand."

She stretches out loosely, pulling her arms over her chesty chest idly, finishing up the cool down.

"Though I get the impression that the corps tends to be a little more militarized? In the context of training, I'm happy to follow your or other member's of the leagues orders and discipline in deference to your expertise, but that doesn't mean that you're my boss or that I have any further obligations beyond perhaps being a good student and a good tenant, here."

She really should figure out another living space, soon, but she's not in that much of a rush, and it is pretty convenient to just have a place where the action happens and (presumably) free use of the faculties, though she should really check that too.

Green Lantern nods.

"If you were a member of the Green Lantern Corps, you'd report to me as the senior lantern assigned to your sector," she agrees. "Luckily, you seem to have made your own ring rather than waiting for one to find you."

Her ring beeps, and she glances down at it.

"... but we're out of time for today. I have to get to Rann to speak to the Citizen's Assembly."

A flare of green light fabricates a printed copy of the fitness plan they worked out. And also a slip of paper with a number on it.

"It was good to meet you, and I look forward to seeing what you'll accomplish in the future," she says, holding the papers out. "You can schedule further training through the Justice League system, or call this number for any non-League matters that may occur to you."

She smiles.

"I look forward to working and speaking with you as well!"

She graciously accepts the cute girl's number, and conveys her own contact information in a process too mundane for this margin!

Green Lantern gives her one last smile before vanishing in a burst of emerald radiance.

"And Topaz — call me Joan."

Over in the other corner, Miss Martian has joined the discussion, drawn out of her room by the feel of more minds.

She is also currently shaped like an octopus, for some reason.

"... so the brain is actually shaped like a donut, because the stomach passes through here—"

"Nope! No more! We're done with marine biology!" Kid Flash declares.

He speeds over to Topaz.

"Topaz! You've got to save me from weird alien biology. You've still got a sensible number of stomachs, right?"

She blush-grins a little, before shaking out her head.

"I do! But that can change quickly!"

She snorts, then breaks down laughing. Wooo putting on her strong face like that for such a time was much!

"But yes. It looks like we have more people coming to settle in? We should probably go do introductions and all."

"Ah, yeah, that makes sense. I guess I should probably text Robin ..."

The other young heroes follow Kid Flash over at a more sedate pace.

"I actually think I've met, at least briefly, everyone other than Robin," Kαλδυρ'αμ notes. "We've decided you can call me Kaldur. Topaz, right?"

"Mhm!"

She nods, and flyfloats over to shake their hand.

"Good to meet you!"

"And you as well," he agrees. "I don't know how much you know about Atlanteans, but I'm a trainee battle-mage from the military academy in Shayeris. King Orin offered to bring me to the surface as a sort of exchange program to get more diverse experience."

"I don't know much! When I did a quick research sprint on this world on arrival, I saw that atlantis was some sort of magical underwater realm with Aquaman serving as a 'King' there, alongside his role in the Justice League, but that's about the end of my knowledge. Just talked with Zatara about starting on my magic education, so I'm glad to see that there's going to be some more mages around. Might I ask what kind of magic you are trained in?"

She hum-smiles.

"I should probably ask what you know of me and where I come from, too? Not too sure how much you've would have heard from the league's grapevine about my situation."

"Very little. Miss Martian told me that you'll be living in the mountain as well, though. As for my magic ..."

He extends a hand, and a thin tendril of water snakes into the room from through the door to the vehicle hanger, before coming to curl around his fingers like a set of brass knuckles.

"I study standard Atlantean battlemagics, which means a focus on aquakinesis, cryokinesis, and elemental techniques. I also have minimal biomancy training to perform field healing, but I don't plan to focus on biomancy beyond the basics."

"Kaldur knows so much about Earth fish! It was great to get some of his memories of octopi. I always thought they were shapeshifters, but apparently they just have really fine control over their subcutaneous chromataphores!"

"Right now, I'm exploring my options - he's recommended me some resources on thaumaturgy, spirit calling and spellfixing to look into."

"As for my story... I got transported here just a little while ago, and got a pretty good quality 'create your own powers' power in exchange! Right now, I'm working on crystal generation and emotional spectrum crafting - the same principles that Green Lantern's rings are made with, but I can do in principle pretty much anything with some work, outside of replicating a few specific metahuman powers. I'm 18, she/her, and looking forward to figuring out how I can superhero best!"

She smiles.

"Octupuses are pretty impressive, yeah! Honestly, found their craftiness up there with the way they can contort themselves."

Miss Martian curls a tentacle thoughtfully.

"Robin says they'll be right over," Kid Flash declares, dropping his phone into his pocket.

"Oh man, I just realized — I'm the only permanent boy on the team! Topaz is a girl, Miss Martian is a shapeshifter, Kaldur is only a boy until he spends too long away from home, and Robin is always saying—"

"Recognized. B-01: Robin"

"Cadmus labs is on fire."

"—yeah, that."

"No, wait. What?"

She blinks furiously.

"I take it not in a readily-fire-department-solveable way, given that you're bringing it up?"

Robin brings up the computer console, and a photo of Cadmus Labs.

"Cadmus Labs — experimental biochemical research institute funded primarily by not-provably-a-supervillain Lex Luthor — is having a fire that appears to be coming from a secret underground complex, and witnesses on the scene have reported seeing non-human creatures and hearing 'mind screams'. The human staff who were evacuated warned firefighters against entering the structure, and refused to tell them how to safely access the subterranean area when they insisted," Robin explains.

That's an impressive lab complex, and a thoroughly unimpressive (and/or sabotaged) fire supression system! She really thought that tech supervillains would do better than making their labs tinderboxes. Something to investigate, she supposes.

"Alright, assuming we're going to go and try to take care of things ourselves... Who here has mental defense training? I should be able to protect my mind with my rings, and I imagine that your telepathy protects you, Miss Martian? I've made a few talismans that should be able to help, too, but first priority goes to anyone who doesn't have their own solution. How close is it to the nearest zeta tube?"
