"Okay!  I think it's probably the cool one.  See you soon thanks again."  He hangs up and arranges himself so that the door's mostly closed and it's just his shin keeping it open.

Smol Haru squints at him. "It is a lot of a coincidence even considering everything that my future esper partner would happen to be here to meet me."

"Yep.  I'm going to not worry about it until he gets here, though.  Or, try to." 

"What's his power? Do you know his backlash - are you allowed to say it in front of other people -"

"Uhh.  He can turn invisible and imperceptible, and fly.  And he gets... friendly.  It's public; he has a blog."  He sounds more like he's providing the evidence for himself than the kids.

"If I stick my phone out the door will I be able to read his blog?"

"I don't know!  Probably not?  You can read it off my phone, though."  Julien starts pulling it up.

"He blogs in French," Smol Haru observes.

"Yep!  Learning languages is friendly enough that he can do it backlashed."

"His FAQ says it's loneliness. ...It says he lives in Toronto, did he move back? Or never leave?"

"Huh, I'm not sure.  Where, uh -"  He scrunches up his face.  "Uh, for esper reasons I really don't want to be very curious about you, and we can solve that by you answering a lot of questions as soon as I ask them, or we can do it by having the two of us not talk very much."

"I just recently moved to Tokyo. Why do you not want to be curious about me?"

"For esper reasons!  - Now, I'm aware that that's a bad answer, and if I asked you a question and got an answer like that, it might be pretty bad, so maybe we should just wait until you-but-taller gets here to really dig into anything."

"Ummmm.  Mr. Doucet?"

"....You can really just call me Julien, but, yes?"

"That would be worse for me.  Ummmmmm.  I have a strange question..."

"Yes?"

"Have you, ummmm.  Ever done anything really bad, really bad, that made you want to die because you did it?"

"...You're right, that was a very strange question.  Uh, I'm going to say no to that one?"

"Okay, thank you."

"Why would you ask him that??"

"Umm.  He reminds me of someone I know about."

"Who?"
