"We might want to not linger, then."

"We could also intercept them and glean information for ourselves."

"Depends on if anyone's watching their informant, but the yield could be decent..."

"We're close enough; I think we can risk it."

She nods. "Think they've got eyes on us yet?"

"Not quite, I think."

Hum. "Want to try and get them here, or follow them if and when they leave?"

"Grab them here. Fewer chances for things to go wrong."

Nod. "They might hear me sneaking up if they're actually paying attention. But invisibility should get us close, and..." She squints. "There's enough of a walkway above them they might not question footsteps up there, and then I can just drop down."

"Mm, sounds good. Around this corner, and I'll cast..."

She heads around the corner, waits for Elana to cast, and then slinks off once invisible, circling idly - pace normal, hopefully not suspicious - to the walkway above their prey.

Elana doubles back to pass in front of their vampiric observer.

He starts to follow her -

And Lace drops down behind him, silent, her hand over his mouth before he can react to her suddenly getting closer, hauling him back into the shadows (and kicking out a leg) before either her or her prey is visible from the docks. There's a minor scuffle, which Lace seems to have well in hand, as she properly pins him.

Atta girl.

She ducks into the alleyway after them.

The vampire is trying to throw Lace off, and making noise behind the hand she still has clamped over his mouth. He's not being very successful.

Lace glances up at Elana, raising an eyebrow.

Elana bends down so as to meet his eyes better and presses her will upon his.

It takes a bit of pressing, but soon enough his struggles weaken and then cease, and he stops making muffled sounds.

"Make no noise except to answer my questions." She gestures Lace to let him speak. "Why were you watching the docks?"

Lace removes her hand.

"I was told to watch for you," he says, voice hazy.

"By who?"

"My coven master," he continues. "He said there was a reward."

"Is anyone else from your coven in the city?"

"Yes," he says. "We've been taking over."

"Do you know why you were directed to watch for me?"

"No," he says.
