"I don't think I can say yet.  ...But there is an emotion that goes with it, and I don't think I've felt that."

"What emotion?"

"I said before that it felt like - worrying you might be judging me - but then with some more examples I think it might be something broader than that, or a little off target.  Curiosity, but like... hungry curiosity.  Where I'm really invested in knowing something."

"So more of a sensor power than, say, trying to alter whether I'm judging you?"

"I'm always judging everyone so you don't have to check."

"Good to know.  I don't really want to make any claims before I've actually seen it work, but yeah, maybe sensor I guess."

"Which means it is probably safe to test on anyone who's a sufficiently open book."

"I hope."

"I'm, uh, not an open book, do you know anybody who is or should I start calling power testing outfits?"

"I can message groups of friends, probably."

"Cool. They do have power testing facilities that include retaining folks who are wiling to be psychic guinea pigs, though, if that doesn't pan out."

- A short chain of thought - "Oh fuck - all this was real - I have to pay you back -"

"Uh, at the risk of being hypocritical since I bought my mom this entire house and gave my dad a boat, you absolutely do not have to do that."

"...Okay.  And if I want to do facilitated power testing I will... have a way to pay for it, probably.  Someday."

"...if you are talking about a test subject from a facility, you might need to pay them but probably through some kind of program because it's in the public interest to be able to identify new esper powers pronto; if you're talking about guiding, and if I am not completely misreading this general situation in my belief that we are ongoingly willing to be around one another, I do... dungeons... and guiding goes both ways."

"I meant money-wise.  I guess even if my power isn't at all profitable, I can - I mean it sounds like - you already have a partner but maybe we can work something out?  Given that we are currently ongoingly willing to be around each other?"

"I already have a partner and the only reason this is remotely viable is that we have distance compatibility, because the only method of guiding she can tolerate is that she hides under a blanket with her feet sticking out and I pretend she doesn't exist for four to six hours at a time. You are slightly less compatible but I don't have to pretend you don't exist, I could quadruple my dungeon load and still save time."

What does it mean to not pretend he doesn't - "Ack, sorry."  That one took him by surprise because it really wasn't fear of judgement at all, basically.  "How far away is the closest one of these places, do you know?"

Hand? Holding of hands? "There's one in Vaughan; the general Toronto area has one of everything esper related that Canada has at least one of because it's the biggest city. Anything where we share with the States you have to go to NYC."

Hands and the holding thereof, yeah.  "Nice."  With his other he pulls out his phone and searches 'esper powers testing vaughan'.  ...Should he not be doing that because backlash.  Kind of too late, and also it's only a little, he guesses.

The facility is called Canadian Esper Power Testing or CEPT for short. It is just a little backlash to the point where holding hands and petting Cricket see Haru through it. "Was that data point useful in narrowing it down at all?"

Does this place take walk-ins or approximate walk-ins with a call ahead to let them know you're coming or does he have to schedule something...

"Hm?  On what?"

"On what's triggering your power."

You can walk in but they aren't open on weekends and don't keep long hours.

"Oh, yeah."  That.  "I think I was probably right with the curiosity.  It's just harder to stop it when it's a flavor I'm not expecting as much, I think.  Which is maybe a good sign for how soon I'll learn to control it."

"What were you curious about?"
