"If I stop awakening are you going to make me go away and never see you again?"

"...uh? What? I don't think so?"

"Oh.  Okay.  Great!"

"Sorry, why was this a concern?"

"It kind of seemed like you might."

"I don't know what you will want to do, when you're awakened."

"And like... you'll respect it?  Even if it's not bad?"

"It seems possible that I have, like, amazing moral luck and everything will be fine and you will be totally chill with me even after, it's just not what I am presently dwelling on since it doesn't reward advance prep like looking up what the weather in the Philippines is like."

"......That's not the same country."

"Yeah, it's not, I asked the DWB guy I know about it hypothetically speaking and he said they'd put me in the Philippines because I know some Tagalog, which is obvious in retrospect. They do more work in Indonesia but they've got some deployments in lots of places, being as they are Without Borders."

"It's weird that this one's in English.  Maybe not that weird."

"It's a copycat organization founded by Americans."

"Do you know whether MSF was good with that?"

"Not off the top of my head. I could ask somebody but she's on India time, which makes it currently... dinner, for her."

"Don't worry about it."  He pets Haru's ar - he does NOT do that that will make Haru send him away forever.  He.  Grips his shoulder in kind of a bro-y way for a very normal and short amount of time.

Mildly puzzling but not in a way where he feels moved to comment on it.

"Is there anything you want to do for the rest of the day?"

"I don't have plans, babysitting an awakening may not be action-packed but it doesn't seem wise to double-book it and we don't know exactly how long you'll be."

"But... during?"

"Whatever you need. If you wanna just play sudoku or something I can read, if you're sick of it we can chat, whatever." Haru has, of course, out of dire necessity, gotten pretty good at chatting under great stress.

"I don't really care."

"Well, that's simple, then."

"So what are we doing?"

"...are you in fact sick of Sudoku and hoping I'll have an idea, because I can probably do that but it is slightly different from not caring."
