She closes her eyes and breathes in deeply.

"Ah, that smells very nice. And here I was, almost excited for hardtack. You spoil me." She smiles

Hailey laughs wryly. "Hardtack? Hah, I have standards. Plus, one advantage of a crew this small is we can afford to eat better."

"Indeed." She peers into the pot. "Do you want help with anything?"

The Lookout looks over her shoulder at Lilith for a moment. "Get out five bowls and spoons, top-right cabinet. Time you've got those, stew'll be ready to ladle. I'll keep setting up curing while you do that."

She hums tunelessly as she does so, offering bowls one by one to be filled.

She flits around the table, sliding bowls onto the table as she goes. Her stomach rumbles. "I feel like I haven't eaten in ages."

"Well this'll fill you up right proper. Nothing like a hearty stew to settle the soul." She finishes the current barrel of meat she's setting up to cure and pops a lid onto it, then sets the tray of rolls in easy reach and flips a little concealed hook to hold it in place.

As she sits down, she murmurs softly, tilting her head toward the ceiling but not raising her voice in the slightest, "Stew's up, love. Fetch Neo and Sable, would you?"

Ruby bounces eagerly and sits down as well.

The stew smells of rich beef, rosemary, bay leaves, garlic, and other seasonings. Chunks of beef and chopped potatoes, carrots, and onions can be seen.

The smell is almost alien to her. Her mouth waters as she takes a seat and waits for the others to arrive.

She thinks about food, the lifeblood of a crew the way fuel is for a ship. She's unsure why she keeps thinking the irrigo core of a fluke would make for fine dining but it would just be so appropriate if she had forgotten some culinary experiment she had conducted, given the ingredient involved.
