The inn staff don't blink at a talking fox requesting breakfast be delivered to the room. Rice porridge with cinnamon and fresh-baked biscuits with berry jam and two sausages and fruit juice, for each of them.

Oh, this is lovely.

If the smell of food hasn't woken Megi, then she will; this food is best eaten hot.

"Fine, fiiiine, I'm taking a bath and having a lazy day after this though... It does smell good."

"You can go right back to bed, as far as I'm concerned; I just want you to enjoy your well-deserved breakfast, and you can't do that if it's gone cold.  ...Should I go let your guy know that it's fine, or do you want to do that yourself?"

Yaaawn. "I'll let him know later. No need."

"Alright then.  I made plans to meet up with the girl whose cat I found; that's going to be around lunchtime."

"Making friends, are we? Good for you."

"I do hope so!  Might get to see if I can actually recognize Ancient Tirran, too."

"I'm sure there's a place for you in a library if you can do that convincingly!"

Megi seems significantly more awake now that there is some juice in her.

...Huh, do foxes get diabetes?

"I'd rather try for 'correct' over 'convincing'!"

"Or, perhaps, both?"

Nomf biscuit.

"There is no convincing reason why English is so like itself.  It mugs other languages for spare words.  The written words are quite often so disjoint from their pronunciations that a rather common competition is a spelling bee, where one must, from the spoken word and the definition, correctly recapitulate the orthography, by having memorized it."
