turn me on
ari and eli with henry and gabe in eclipse

The money from the estate sale lasted for a couple of years. Belinda had a lot of antiques, and the house itself was pretty nice, even though it was in the middle of nowhere and the site of a fairly notorious not-quite-murder. They have enough, for a while.

But the thing about money is that it doesn't last. Eventually, you have to use your God-given supernatural talents to make a quick buck. Eli's still-nascent healing is in demand, of course; he's already on a marketable path, the bastard. Ari considers high-end prostitution - he's pretty, and the things he can do defy the imagination. But that'd be legally complicated, and not actually that lucrative. It's not his comparative advantage, despite everything. So he turns to the fallback of every lazy psion since the invention of the computer: running virtuality.

It's fucking stultifying; he's not good enough yet that he can do it while he catches up on his latest MMO subscription. But it pays well, and he gets government-mandated breaks every couple of hours. During his first such break, he looks around the breakroom, carrying a tray of calorie-rich food. Anybody look interesting?
