in which somebody thought training fate to be a jedi was a good idea

She pulls her hand back, pouting and focusing on making it heal a hair faster.

Explains part of why these are still in place, though.

Curiously, she reaches out in the Force towards the tablets.

There's a sensation like the metaphysical equivalent of rusty gong going bong.

Whoops.

Being a lot less cautious this time: can she grab them? (With the Force, of course, her hand's still got some surface damage.)

They're slippery; her best efforts to grasp them only set them to rotating faster.

Slow - almost like weaving a net around one, isolating it, coaxing it, her mental presence firm but as slippery as it -

And then she pauses.

Listens, almost.

A trickle of an idea -

She shoves, slamming the full force of her against them -

With a crack that's more felt than heard, the tablets fall to the floor.

And behind her, someone begins clapping.

She turns around, grinning. And caught red handed, but if she was in actual danger she would've expected to be warned. The Force is usually polite like that. (When it's not trying to get her into increasingly bizarre situations, that is. Still, she's always gotten out, and that's what really counts.)

"That you were able to reach this point so easily is impressive. But now your attempted thievery is finished. Step away."

She..

Has absolutely no idea what the Force wants her to do here. Weird. Not the first time it's been quiet, of course, but usually if something's dangerous or stupid it lets her know...

Well, that leaves improv. Her favorite skill.

Fighting... Might be fun. Grabbing the tablets and running is probably smart, but not really Abali's style. Obeying is probably even smarter, but even less Abali's style.

She stays put.

"Unfortunately, I'm not the type to do as I'm told," she says, wryly. "Got anything other than orders for me?"

"Nor am I in the habit of extended negotiations with petty criminals. What else I have for you is pain, and death."

"Petty? I'm insulted. The charges against me definitely have 'grand' somewhere in there."

"And I'm sure all your little friends consider that very impressive." She lets her power uncoil slowly, like frost creeping across a lake, like a sun falling into a black hole. "I do not."

Still not scared. More fascinated. Maybe a bit excited.

" - Oh you're gorgeous - " she breathes out, eyes sparkling, and lets her own power flick out, like a snake testing the air. She's more fire, something big and dangerous that'll laugh as it destroys you, or flick playfully in front of your hands as it warms you... She's not on the level of a Sith Lord, not yet - she's still the spark rather than the flame - but she's an ambitious little spark in a world built out of kindling.

The Sith has all the implacability of a glacier, in contrast to everything Abali was taught. Sith are supposed to be loud in their affect, consumed by emotion.

"Step away. I will not tell you again."

She steps aside, lightly, still not the slightest bit afraid. (She has another goal than her reputation, now, and she's learned well that sometimes you have to give in order to get.)

(It's heady, having that intensity even near her.)

"So you are capable of at least a modicum of wisdom. Good." She gestures, and the tablets rise back into their original position and resume their rotation.

"I have many depths."

"I am curious what's so special about those tablets. The Force seemed so very sure I should come this way, after all." Or maybe the better question is what's so special about the lovely, dangerous woman in front of her.

"Curiosity can be dangerous. As can that very Jedi belief that the Force is somehow capable of thinking."

"I've usually found both quite rewarding. And the Jedi aren't very good at listening; I don't think they'd be so boring if they paid any attention at all."

"Mm. Why are you here, girl?"

"Got hired for a job, had a real good feeling about it, and I've been feeling I should keep going ever since. Right now I'm not getting much of a feeling in any direction, and you're interesting."

"How... carefree. Come, we are leaving this place."
