Still at the IHOP. They wandered around a couple of blocks but didn't get into any trouble. Then they spent the afternoon debating whether their universe's vampires are the same and getting their lies straight.

I see. I guess you can't drive all of us and them anywhere at once. You could drive them to somewhere near the school while we pick up Dennis's books, I guess?

I was thinking you could hang out with them while you do the scry and I can get everyone else in the meantime. Since it might be...private.

Oh, right, I forgot about that. Sure. I guess if it'll take an hour that's plenty of time to pick stuff up from Dennis's house.

Yeah. Do you want them to do the scry at yours? So if it's - good to see - your sister could?

- oh, yeah. I guess that'd be good for her. They'll be terribly concerned about our family structure but I guess that's fine.

And he picks the strangers up from the IHOP to drive them to Karen's house. "How was your day?"

"Uneventful. This translation spell isn't very long-lasting and we can't do it repeatedly, for how long this afternoon will we be discussing things?"

"Dunno. Ideally most of the evening but we can compress it if we need to. How long do you have?"

"Just over an hour, but it's just me, and then we can do a different spell that has to be cast on both parties but achieves the same result."

"Okay. I'll try to get everyone in one place after the scry so you can meet them all at once and get your primer on Earth."

"Is that the plane? The planet? The country?"

"The planet. Do you have planets?"

"Yes, though I haven't been to any of the other ones personally."

"Huh, have some people?"

"Sure, if they have business on one of the other planets and a teleport with the range or access to a portal  - or a couple of plane shifts, though that sounds like an awfully bad idea if you ask me."

"Why's that?"

"It's not very accurate about targeting on your destination plane, and lots of planets aren't very safe."

"Around here they mostly don't have air."

"Lots of them don't! Or too hot, or too cold, or made of gas, but there's spells for all that. Landing really far off your destination could be really dangerous even if you're prepared for all that."

"Huh."

"Where are we going now?"

"Karen's. So you can do that scry."
