It makes sense for some things to take time. Don't really know if they merely take time though.

Yeah.

It'll be easier when they speak the language. But I don't really know whether - I feel like if I were being raised to take political office then running away to Colorado Springs would feel like - well, running away. Even if I liked it there.

Yeah. Dunno how to fix that. We can't insert them into any constitutional monarchies.

I guess maybe we could. It'd be a sort of dumb use of resources though.

I am not suggesting this as a solution. Just - trying to think what the thing is and whether there are any other things that get at it.

My family was royalty, back home.

It's a hard thing to replace.

Gosh.

Well, I guess I wouldn't know.

I don't - think you could really have satisfied us. But maybe that's too pessimistic.

I mean, maybe we can't. But we gotta give them something.

Do you have any ideas?

Hm.

It's possible they might worry about the fate of the people back home? How all of this advanced future tech being thrown around is going to affect things for their country, whether there's anything they should be learning to be of more use during whatever's going to happen there, if anything? Also possible they find this place more important and we should be telling them, like, what we're doing here, as a society, rockets and medicine and mass communications and warfare and politics, and they can see what they want to make of all that, but at least it won't be - obviously just distracting them from more important things.

If they just like being the most important people in the room then I don't have a lot of ideas.

That makes sense. I could - ask Cecelia to translate for me while we talk about that.

Yeah.

Might wanna save it for, like, an end of the week check-in, then that gets to be us trying to respond to their concerns, like we said we would.

Yeah.

Then tomorrow - I don't know, a zoo? A water park? A library? A movie theatre?

Instincts say zoo. Doesn't require a lot of language and it - showcases some stuff about how globalized we are, in a way that a water park doesn't.

I guess maybe we should take everyone together, if the other you likes animals.

I don't know if he'd like them in the zoo. Depends if it's a good zoo, I guess. But probably he's too - fairy, by which I oddly mostly find myself meaning 'good at impulse control and unusually careful as a person', to do anything about it if he dislikes it.

Well, how good a zoo is it?

Don't know. It's not in my range for strangers from here and I haven't actually been to this place before.

Let's just take him. If he's bored, well, he'd be bored here too.

We should maybe come up with some more stuff for him to do, sitting around being useless can't be doing him a lot of favors either. But I guess the - fairy debt thing makes that complicated.

It does, yeah. - plus I'm sort of undecided on whether we want him to get frustrated and leave.

You think he will?

I don't know. He might. I think he's likelier to - write her off than drag her off, if she's happy and he can't be.

I guess that's better than the alternative.

I - don't know that she'd go with him, if she thought it was better for the kids to be here, but it definitely wouldn't make her happy.

Yeah.

Doesn't mean it's not best for her.

Yeah.

I dunno. I'm - kind of having trouble imagining what her life is going to end up looking like, in either case.

Maybe we could ask how she envisions it?
