Yeah. Pretty irreversible, too, at least from her perspective.

I dunno.

I haven't been reading her mind. I could but - we try not to do that just to help people who don't want our help. And I can't read his, not without him noticing.

I don't think you should read her mind. At least not at - the level on which I am currently worried about her.

Should probably get her to church at some point. Something big and old and Catholic, she's definitely pre-reformation.

Landlord'll pick up as many people as fit in his pickup truck on Sunday. - I don't actually know where he goes but my brother's the one who engineered that and I bet he consulted our other brother who is a Catholic priest and I bet it'll be suitable.

You have a very impressive set of brothers.

They did quite a lot of respecializing when we learned the world was stalked by vampires and demons these days.

Well, that's impressive, too. The - doing stuff about it.

Oh, yes, we're very good at doing stuff. Sometimes apparently it's enslaving people, but -

Yeah, well, we can't all be the good twin.

You're growing into it.

I guess. Maybe by the time you resurrect the other me she won't even be that embarrassed.

I'll be happy as long as we get her back soon enough she can remember that any of us existed.

I assume you have, like, a reason for thinking the good twin is in hell?

God and I have some disagreements about what goodness is.

I see.

She was sure, before she died. And I don't know, I guess, that she was right, but I've never yet found the universe to be more merciful than advertised.

I guess.

- sorry, not trying to poke stuff. Just - trying to keep track of all of my plot hooks, I guess.

We got pulled out of this dimension into another one. One earlier in its history, fighting a war that I lived through - or lived through the first five hundred years of it, there are very few people who lived through the whole thing and I wasn't one of them. It was a very bad war, against a very evil god. We knew how it would go, if we didn't do anything.

There's a ritual for killing evil gods. It's - not permitted under Catholic law, on several different levels, including that it involves giving birth to, then killing, a baby.

Well, that'll do it, I guess.

Ended the war. Saved millions of people.

She was - what, seventeen?

Yes.

Well. I will not aspire to outdo her.

Wanted her to make it to thirty.

I'm sorry.
