"My name is Kennedy," the child introduces herself.  "Would you hold my hand?"

"I can't exactly move right now."

"If I put my hand near yours," she clarifies.  "Would you hold it?  I won't if you would do anything else."

"I will do things else like. Breathing. But sure I'd hold your hand."

"Is hurting me at all a thing like breathing?"

"No. What would be the point, I'm not the kind of person who drowns Sims in the swimming pool."

"I don't know what those are."  But: hand.

"Computer game NPCs." He laces their fingers.

"...If you know you're awakening," contemplates Ari, "do you think, what, we're magically going to turn back into people in a few days?"

"If I remain tied up till the end of hell week then I will no longer be magically lonely and it'll matter way less whether there are real people."

"Has it occurred to you that like, these things are related?  Uh, with respect.  Like, did anything change information-wise or did you just have a really, really really, really bad time, which I'm very sorry for."

"What is this, a customer experience survey?" He coughs; his throat's really pretty fucked up.

"Why would there be a customer experience survey if you're the only person in the world!"

"Who's going to tell the robots to stop administering them?"

"Kennedy, if you were given a bottle of water, do you think you could help Haru drink without spilling most of it all over him?"

"No, Mr. Vogt."

"Haru, would you like some water despite the fact that most of it will likely get spilled on you."

"Yeah."

Xavier instructs Ari to get a water out of the center console and pass it back to Kennedy, who manages to not spill most of it on him!  Maybe closer to a third.

He is wet and tied up but mostly he is HORRIBLY UNRELIEVABLY LONELY.

"I still really want to know the answer to the customer experience question."

"Sure you do."

"Haru.  Did you learn anything that made you decide no one else was people, or is your mind control, which you know you have, just being really mean to you."

"Just, it says."

"I'm not making a comment on how much it sucks!  I'm saying that if it's the mind control then that means we're real."
