Good.

I wonder when the Seeker will return. It's been a while. Of course, they have much to decide.

"We're all eager to hear what's going on with them but of course they mustn't rush."

Rushing leads to ruin.

She takes a short vacation once Ruan finds a mountain for it.

The mountain doesn't have any stuff on it, even, though it's got line of sight to some that have antennae and blinky lights to prevent airplanes from hitting them, and one with an observatory and a resort on.

One of the tops of the world. Cold and thin air. A high place. She stares at the sky. Tension she didn't realize had been building disappears.

Her voice echoes down the slopes as she sings something slow and steady. She flies around the area some and even lands near the observatory, curious.

The observatory is also a planetarium and space museum, but it doesn't have an entrance big enough for her. There's a purple with a food truck out front selling cheese paninis and fried chicken; he's startled.

Hello. I'm curious what this place is.

"...it's the Fauvo Observatory."

A place to observe? ...I will leave if I'm making you uncomfortable.

"It's for looking at space? I run a food truck..."

Some oranges are giving Bloom a lot of space as they lock their bikes up to go in to the observatory.

Yes you are not the one in charge here, but I suspected you knew more about it than me. I suppose this is one of the many eyes Seeker complained about.

"I took my kids here once but one of them just wanted to play with the space computer games they have the whole time so I didn't see much."

It sounds interesting. I had better just leave since I won't fit inside, though.

She flies back to the original mountaintop without waiting for a response and stays there for the next few days, singing and flying around occasionally, then goes back to the warehouse.

It's waiting for her just how she left it.

Back to work doing magic for science to apply itself to.

The hereditary version takes longer and has more risk of side effects.

People want to know if she means cool side effects or the less exciting kind.

More magic powers aren't very likely. That's if she screws up specifically in a way that can be fixed with More Power. The less exciting kind. Physical changes like a patch of scales or feather-like hair or eye color change are pretty likely on her first attempt, because of the hereditary-ness.

Having scales sounds inconvenient, could that be fixed with a skin graft if it came up?

She confers with some greens and concludes that yes probably. She can also specifically avoid scales at the cost of slightly increased risk of something else.

They can give the volunteers a form to fill out. Most people don't mind the possibility of eye color changes and some people think feather hair sounds neat.

Here is her first test subject, a purple guy.

As long as they know that's not the full list of possible effects, just some likely ones. (Sharp incisors that might keep growing back and a slightly deeper voice and a slightly longer neck are on the list of possible effects, too).

She does her work slowly and carefully.

After a long pause she... Says that it worked, but now his eyes are a deep, foresty green.

He brought a mirror. "Neat," he says.

That could have gone badly. I know none of you have context for how risky this is to fully appreciate it when I say things like that but... It could have gone badly.

Let's let the greens see what they make of you before I try that again.

"Is the eye color hereditary too now?"

Probably. I can tell for sure if I see you tomorrow. Or if the usual genes for eye color are different now that would answer that.
