That would be good, but I want to meet Amentans and taste your food and see interesting things and do concerts!

Next person is a purple offering her a meatball on a stick! He warns her not to eat the stick, unless Draak eat sticks.

Draak eat bones sometimes, but not sticks.

Nom. She wiggles happily!

Good! I like how I barely have to chew it!

It's all ground up! explains the purple. That lets us blend several kinds of meat and also spices and stuff!

Spices are fun. We don't usually use spices. Or cooking. Some animals you have to cook but other than that we just don't. It's a lot better like this though!

I hope the meat-tree idea I heard about works out, it's kind of sad to think about animals in factory farms.

Why? asks a different purple.

It sounds like they suffer there, and they don't see any live plants or the sun or rain or any other species of animals, and their whole lives are predetermined, and that's sad.

Amentans seem a little confused. The yellow Mahkemiken calls on next wants to know if there's such a thing as different languages or dialects or anything when everybody's telepathic.

Well, she already knows that they don't get it. Maybe explaining enough times will help.

There are common shortcuts and tendencies in the... Shape... Of thoughts that are sometimes different from place to place, that's sort of like a dialect I think. I'm unusually good at using telepathy to talk and understand, I can usually tell what people mean.

An orange wants to know how old River is!

I think about twelve or thirteen, maybe! Seeker says I'm at the developmental equivalent of four and a bit.

Do you age like us just slower, or is it not - linear in Amentan equivalent development per year? asks the orange.

I'm not sure how you age. A hatchling can already walk around and use telepathy and hunt and learn things when they hatch. And they're about as big as a two year old Amentan. Then there's a long time when you just slowly get bigger and smarter and learn things, and after about nine years males could be fathers, and once you can fly you are a young adult - that's usually between ten and fourteen Amentan years - and after about sixteen years females could be mothers. Oh, and our years are shorter but I'm using Amentan years so it makes sense.

That sounds really different, all right! Where'd the guess that you're like four and a bit come from?

I can fly but that started just three seasons ago! And I'm still kind of immature by Draak standards, even though I'm technically an adult.

I guess that makes sense!

A purple wants to know if Draak thinks Amentan babies are cute. He's holding one.

I don't think we even have a 'cute' reaction! Or at least not the same way.

That must be so different!

The baby's two year old brother wants to know if the baby looks tasty. His dad is appalled.

All Amentans look a little bit tasty, but not as much as meatballs now that I've tried one! And I promised not to hurt anyone, so please don't worry!

This gets a scattered uncomfortable giggle.

Well, it's true. Draak eat animals. Amentans are animals. What would you think of an alien made of fruits?

"We wouldn't eat an alien!" objects a grey.

I'm not going to kill any Amentans because I want to eat them. There are less smart things to kill and eat, and everyone would be super angry at me, and maybe even pollution would come into it and I don't understand pollution really, and it just seems like a bad idea.

"I'd eat an alien animal," muses a purple out of turn to himself. "If it was tasty, I mean."

...I'm starting to feel a little bit surrounded, River tells her chaperone.
