A dragon explores space, finds Amenta.

The secrets of Delver technology could not resist decryption forever. While the tools they wielded are deeply weird, jealously guarded, and immensely complicated, living beings built the tools that brought aliens to the dragons' first world. The great calamity left ruins aplenty behind, and once grown the Seeker gathered these old tools as their very favorite sort of treasure. Dragons are not intelligent in quite the same way as a No-Tail, but they are far from stupid. They live forever and can be very determined if they set their mind to it.

The Seeker brought all its tools and treasure along with it when the world was evacuated ahead of the Tailless's relentless growth and hunger for resources. It studied under the great elder Darktooth on the new world, studied together with Darktooth (an arrangement not very common with dragons, as they are not particularly social), for a very long time. And eventually, by application of the hard claws of experiment and calculation and theorizing, the universe revealed its workings, cold and precise and mathematical. Creating more and more tools of the highest sophistication, and teaching others of its kind in exchange for wealth, and even spawning offspring and guiding them to adulthood, was all satisfying for a long while, but eventually... He got bored.

And so, the Seeker wondered if the long sleep for the journey between stars was really necessary, and got to work seeing about making it not. He managed it eventually, and built a starship, and went exploring. Stars come in a beautiful variety of kinds, and the worlds around them do too, but very, very few bear any sign of life. They are mostly barren and empty.

...Oh, this one is emitting curious amounts of low-frequency light. Worth investigating. Pushing a starship faster than light requires a touch of magic (at least for now), which he provides.

In the outer solar system of a certain star, well above the plane of the ecliptic, a black sphere the size of a city block appears and has a look around with powerful telescopes.

Want me to sharpen my claws or scratch rock or something? Those are nice sounds, too.

"Sure, let's get a whole library of them, I'll mix it in."

That's a nice way to spend the rest of the day. He might get bored of it after a week but has plenty of patience for now.

The next day he asks Meksi, Can you ask if they've decided on the flying sequences yet? Even if they're not ready to record, I can practice. Or if there's anything else to do? I can always just exercise if not. And I go back to the other movie soon right?

She asks. They have a storyboard, here it is! And he doesn't actually have to be at the other studio for a while but he is invited to scripting sessions and auditions and a concept art showcase.

Neat. He will practice flying according to the storyboard a bit and then fly back to the big studio, since he's looking forward to trying a flight harness and maybe the rigger has one ready now. And be back here in four days to fight Flicker, that being the last day she could come and still make her trip back to the other planet.

The rigger has a harness ready! But there aren't any stuntgreys around today; they don't hang around the studio between jobs, generally.

Aww, I was so excited. I could at least see how it fits?

Sure, the purple can put it on and snug it up.

It feels kind of weird. Especially where it goes around his limbs. See how it stretches and strains if he turns like this?

Hmmm, he can snug up this connecting portion to compensate for loosening those bits.

That seems much better. Thank you! This is going to be cool. I'm going to have to learn how to move without snapping anything in this, though, maybe I should fly around some with it on?

"Go for it! Let me know if anything rubs or pulls unpleasantly. Aaaand lemme put something between here and here nice and loose as an indicator for whether flying might strain something on a rider."

He flies!

He can't do a lot of his most extreme twists and spins and so on with this thing on without straining things pretty badly, but the tamer stunts still work alright and 'basic' flying is perfectly comfortable.

"Let me go get a dummy on there and see how that works out."

Good idea.

He will fly with a dummy strapped in. It slows him down a bit and feels weirder. He doesn't try anything particularly bold.

"You don't have to worry about damaging it, that's what it's for."

It's floppy! And dragging at the air!

He steps up the moves, though.

The rigger assesses the dummy's condition and whisks it and the harness away.

Well, that was less fun than he had hoped. Maybe it will be better with someone who he can feel the joy of flight from instead of a stupid dummy.

Meksi, you said something about auditions and concept art and scripting?

"Mm-hm, do you want to look at concept art on the pocket everything or should I ask them to bring it to your room? They're doing some auditions with actors who have relationships with the studio over the next few days, you can sit in on those or meet them after they've done them. Script draft is due in six weeks but those run late a lot."

Pocket everythings are too small to see anything! The second thing. It's probably good to meet people. Is there a more detailed script outline yet?

"They're still workshopping it. They need to go through a lot of ideas and filter for the best ones. You can tell them which concept art you like and they can iterate from that theme."

Okay, that sounds good. I'm not the last word still, right? But that's fine if I have at least some kind of say.

"Right, you can be overridden but they'll pay attention."

I don't know what I might reject until I see it. Maybe if they want me to act in a really un-Draak-like way?
