Dennis is in detention. This has literally never happened before, so he's not a hundred percent sure when detention is supposed to end, but he's pretty sure it was a while ago. Probably sometime after the teacher left and didn't return. That would make sense.
"So at what point do we accept that we've been abandoned?" he asks the room in general.
"He did seem very black and white thinking-y. Which, fair, given that his enemies just ate him, I guess, that probably does not bring out the forgiveness in people. We should still note his opinions, since he knows more than we do, but we should note that they are opinions. He thinks Hork-Bajir are 'a good people' and that they are to be pitied, and that Taxxons are evil."

Dennis sits on the bleachers and figures he'll object whenever someone says something extraordinarily dumb.
"He didn't give us any. They might or might not get access to people's memories and stuff. I feel like maybe if a bunch of aliens were going around trying to speak with human mouths for the first time, it would be hard, even if they knew the language?"
"Yeah. That's possible. But Elfangor thought they'd take over within the year if no one stopped them."
"So we can turn into animals and we have to somehow use this to prevent an alien invasion despite not knowing who our allies are, who the aliens have on their side, or how we can fight them."
