Flai moved easily through the forest, feeling the thrum of nature's energy on his skin. He'd always had such a connection to the world, to the magic in it. He felt some days like he could reach out and reshape the world to his whim. Something, as his mother told him, that his father could do. As a child, he'd begged her to take Flai to him, to see the man he'd heard so much of. His mother would laugh, and say that she would when it was time. 

Sometimes he saw him in dreams, the two of them connecting through the soul they seemed to share. Flai was comforted by that, knowing that his dreams had a protector, as did his waking life.
