Vaguely. Or maybe clearly and I just don't remember. I remember that the Quendi were on Earth and then - Melkor? - showed up and something about a race of captive people and lots of torture and he was stopped once and then he was released and something about a king dying and a bunch of terrible things happening on Earth and then a bunch of you coming back here to fight him.

Melkor, yes. He's the Vala of - evil and suffering and imprisonment and power. He killed the King in Valinor and came here and tried to take over the continent and we came here and stopped him. The war lasted another four hundred fifty years, last time, but in the end we lose badly and almost everyone on the continent dies and then the Valar come and sink it entirely.
I don't - think it'll go much better, the fundamental problem was that he was much, much more powerful than us, but I can't just leave them to it.
There might be something less dramatic than that that'd be helpful too.
