"Then you're probably not camp counselor material. Please don't be too devastated."

"I shall simply have to settle for irritating my stepmother by spending my father's money traveling to meet magical girls with interesting powers."

"Ooh, grand tour. What are you thinking there, paladins? Healers? Weird niche commercial ones?"

"Healers is the most obvious one--imagine if we could do real de-aging!--but I imagine weird niche ones are likely to be the most interesting from a research standpoint."

"Real de-aging would be so good."

"It would. I have no intention of dying if I can avoid it."

"To immortality!" She holds up her hand for a high-five.

"To immortality!" High-five!

Mad cackling!!!

She laughs and twirls around in place. 

"So, dinnertime?"

"Oh! Yes--the mall was that way, right?" she asks, pointing. 

"Yup!" Isabella takes off.

Katarzyna follows. 

"Incidentally, what wings are those?" 

"Swifts. There's been some work done on what wings let you go fastest. These are the fastest available in bird - swift wings plus modifications to make them work better with a human skeleton - there's a faster bat model but Xander didn't like the look of it."

"I would have guessed peregrine falcon, but the human body is rather a confounding factor."

"So there's different ways to be fast, and what I wanted was sustained overland, not diving - that's peregrine - or short bursts - that's something that eats swifts, I think - and there are still birds that can outperform the swift, but not all their adaptations translate well to a human."

"Oh, I see--I think in the long run I'm going to want a set of different kinds of wings, depending on what I want at the moment, instead of a single standard. This pair wasn't terribly well-thought-out."

"I recommend Constellation Center's Definitive Wing Encyclopedia."

"Can you repeat that when we're on the ground? I want to write it down but I don't want to risk dropping my notepad from this high up."

"Sure."

"Thank you. Initially I just went with a pair of generic angel wings--I wasn't trying to achieve flight, at that point, just 'wings are always enough'--and then since I was doing the gyrfalcon crescents thing anyways I just shifted to those once functionality came up, I haven't done all the research I want to yet and that includes into wing designs."

"I expected to get attached to my first set so I did the research first. Cleanup to keep my options open and then a lot of Constellation Center."

"That makes sense. If I get attached to these I'll keep them as part of the lineup but I don't think I'm likely to mind not always having something I'm attached to. If it weren't for the risk of going cryptid I would probably have played around far more with my body plan than I was ever likely to want to keep."
