A CALL FOR THE JUST SHARE OF GAINS

People of Cheliax! My countrymen!

What be this fair share of gains in a free nation? Is it one where Nobles own the soil and coin alike, while we labor under their yoke? What justness lies in such a balance, where a few grow rich, fattened upon the backs of the many?

There is but one path to a true and just Cheliax: we must reclaim the fruits of our own labors and seize back the land upon which we toil! For no man is thrice as wise as his neighbor, yet they claim rights to a wealth that is a hundred times greater. Why should these lords of title alone reap from the soil that we, the common folk, have tilled?

On tools of Power

Who deems it so that only the chosen of teachers may be wizards? Who speaks it law that the common man be denied the tools of adventure? Such power belongs in the hands of all! If the State can lavish its wealth to bring back each delegate from death’s door, let it likewise bestow upon the people the boons they deserve! To every worker of hand, a belt of might; to each thinker, a headband to sharpen the mind, and to every student, the gifts of learning.

If the coffers run dry, let the weight of coin fall not on the shoulders of the poor, but on those of the wealthy! A progressive levy shall light our way! If a man earns a humble gold per month, then let him yield but one of every ten coins, to fund the guards and roads that serve him.

But if a wealthier man takes 30 gold each month, let him give forth one coin in every four, to fund banks, bridges, the postal coaches, and all the fine things from which he reaps a richer harvest.

And if any man boasts a fortune of a thousand gold a month or more, then let him render every other coin in tribute! No man of mortal blood hath need for such a hoard, and he who amasses such wealth while others want is no man of virtue, but a tyrant, unfit to prosper.

On Tyrants and the Righteous Path

And if these nobles defy the call to justice, what choice have we but to rise? The nobles plot to keep their mountains of coin, plotting in their halls to silence our call for just redress! They preach PEACE, yet what we seek is JUSTICE. What the common folk demand is not mere bread but the rightful share of all! There can be no MODERATION when Nobility owns EVERYTHING!

So rally, people of Cheliax! Take up thy pitchforks, thy torches, and summon thy neighbors! Answer the cry for fairness! The Gods shall side with us, for Abadar decrees justice in all bargains! Every noble coin won back and given to the people begets a step toward Axis itself.

And should they strike at us, fear not, for the righteous shall rise again and again. Men of honor from every realm, near and far, stand ready. We know what must be done.

HALF OF EVERY NOBLE COIN TO THE PEOPLE! Half to the people! Half to the people!
