Senior Professor Coeliaris: Representative from the Kintargo Academy of the Magical Arts
Elves can Believe

Coeliaris was born in 4507 AR to urban elves in Absalom. Her parents saw integration with humans as a long-term necessity, and haf lived in cities most of their lives. They taught her the value of adaptability in a changing world.

At twenty, she had already began studying magic. Her talent was evident, but so was her ambition.

By thirty, she had latched onto Arodenite philosophy. She saw in it a framework for progress, and she wanted progress. At forty, she moved to Cheliax, much earlier than traditional elven adulthood, leaving behind the few connections she had in the elven community.

In Cheliax, she paid the fee to become a citizen, and eventually found herself in Kintargo. Over the years, she built a reputation as a wizard of note in the field of Spell-Topology. She found a clever human who could calculate with lightning speed, and took him on as a living calculator. Her work- the spell topologies she was able to shift- gained attention. By age 99, she had secured a minor professorship at the Academy of Kintargo, a culmination of decades of work.

Then Aroden died. The foundations of Chelish society cracked. Coeliaris watched former colleagues turn on each other, saw students become soldiers and corpses. The Academy became a battleground. Her calculator died, killed in a street brawl. She stayed in Kintargo until 4610, trying to salvage what she could of her life's work. When the tide turned against the remaining Arodenite faction, she fled, watching as knowledge was burned and lost in the name of gods and vendettas.

Her exodus took her back home, back across the Inner Sea, back to Absalom. Her parents had died, but she found a halfling in the slave markets who was skilled in numbers, bought her and freed her and hired her. The century wore on. Her calculator left to get married, so she found another one. Eventually she reached the fourth circle, became a Senior Professor of Spell-Topology at the Arcanamirium.

When news of Cheliax's liberation reached her, Coeliaris felt the fire and anger again. It was an old, familiar feeling. The offer to return to Kintargo was unexpected. It came with promises of restoration. She took a leave of absence from the Arcanamirium- not more than a decade, she said.

Coeliaris boarded the ship to Cheliax with two crates of books, five magical items and a calculator.  In Kintargo, all was not well, and too many had been purged already.

They had to send a Chelish wizard as representative to the Constitutional Convention, and she still had her papers.

By age ninety, she had latched onto Arodenite philosophy. She saw in it a framework for progress, and she wanted progress. On her hundredth birthday, she left home and moved to Cheliax, , leaving behind the few connections she had in the elven community.

In Cheliax eventually found herself in Kintargo. She paid the fee to get the letter saying she counted as human for the laws, (with the seal of the Archduchess of Kintargo and the Eye of Aroden) Over the years, she built a reputation as a wizard of note in the field of Spell-Topology. She found a clever human who could calculate with lightning speed, and took him on as a living calculator. Her work- the spell topologies she was able to shift- gained attention. By age 120, she had secured a minor professorship at the Academy of Kintargo.

Her parents had died. She reestablished her research, found a halfling in the slave markets who was skilled in numbers, bought her and freed her and hired her.

And they had to send a Chelish wizard as representative to the Constitutional Convention, and she still had her papers.  Coeliaris counts as human.

Senior Professor Coeliaris: Representative from the Kintargo Academy of the Magical Arts
Elves can Believe

Coeliaris was born in 4484 AR to urban elves in Absalom. Her parents saw integration with humans as a long-term necessity, and had lived in cities most of their lives. They taught her the value of adaptability in a changing world.

At age seventy, was already studying magic.

By age ninety, she had latched onto Arodenite philosophy. She saw in it a framework for progress, accomplishment, building something better- and she wanted that. On her hundredth birthday, she left home and moved to Cheliax, , leaving behind the few connections she had in the elven community.

In Cheliax eventually found herself in Kintargo. She paid the fee to get the letter saying she counted as human for the laws. (With the seal of the Archduchess of Westcrown and the Eye of Aroden) Over the years, she built a reputation as a wizard of note in the field of Spell-Topology. She found a clever human who could calculate with lightning speed, and took him on as a living calculator. Her work- the spell topologies she was able to shift- gained attention. By age 120, she had secured a minor professorship at the Academy of Kintargo, and with the research team she'd built, was well on her way to making some interesting discoveries.

Then Aroden died. The foundations of Chelish society cracked. Coeliaris watched former colleagues turn on each other, saw students become soldiers and corpses. The Academy became a battleground. Her calculator died, killed in a street brawl. She stayed in Westcrown until 4610, trying to salvage what she could of her life's work. When the tide turned against the remaining Arodenite faction, she fled, watching as knowledge was burned and lost in the name of gods and vendettas.

Her exodus took her back home, back across the Inner Sea, back to Absalom. Her parents had died. She reestablished her research team, found a halfling in the slave markets who was skilled in numbers, bought her and freed her and hired her.

The century wore on. She made some discoveries. Her calculator left to get married, so she found another one. Taught her some magic.

Eventually she reached the fourth circle, became a Senior Professor of Spell-Topology at the Arcanamirium. Coeliaris has taught a many great people, who have then gone on to accomplish a many great things, and each of those things she feels she has a small part of. In each of those things, she feels she has moved the course of progress a little further. And she has reduced two spells by one circle each.

When news of Cheliax's liberation reached her, Coeliaris felt the sorrow and anger again. It was an old, familiar feeling. The offer to return to Westcrown was unexpected. It came with promises of restoration. She took a leave of absence from the Arcanamirium- not more than a decade, she said.

Coeliaris boarded the ship to Cheliax with two crates of books, five magical items and a calculator.

In Westcrown everything was gone. There was an academy that said it was the Academny of Westcrown, but it wasn't the one she remembered.

And they had to send a Chelish wizard as representative to the Constitutional Convention

And she still had her papers.  Professor Coeliaris counts as human in Cheliax, they say.

Well- for Aroden, or Iomedae, or Cheliax, it is always the same project, always the same work. Working to completion, then and now.
