The next day, as with every day, students must attend homeroom.
"That's kind of interesting. It doesn't transfer over?"
They walk. Presumably Matt has some idea where they're going.
"Kind of? I mean, usually on a day like today; right before the full moon, I usually go for a rare sort of steak- or any sort of meat, really. And- I have so much energy. If somebody, or an animal, made me angry or something? I, I don't know, I might do- something."
She hmms.
"That's what it's usually like, anyway. I feel different today. More human. So, burger and maybe a milkshake would do really nicely."
"Happy to help."
They arrive a local diner soon enough. They've managed to miss most of the breakfast rush, but there are a few stragglers.
They can sit at the counter, a table, or a booth. Matt looks to Juliet.
"It's definitely...serviceable. I'm not usually big on the greasier stuff, but the food isn't terrible."
There are a few familiar faces at the diner. Erica is there, seated with what must be her parents and brother.
She hums in agreement. "I suppose I can't avoid her forever. We can just say hi. I'd really rather it just be us for today."
"Erica, hey! Um." She looks at the rest of the table. "I'm Juliet, this is my boyfriend Matt. We just wanted to come over and say hi?"
"Hey."
Erica's mother, a stressed-looking blond with glasses and a tidy ponytail, smiles politely at them.
"Hello. Are you two friends of Erica's?"
"She's definitely my friend." She smiles at Erica. "We haven't discussed reciprocation yet," she jokes.
"Say hello, Erica," says Erica's father, a noticeably younger man than his wife.
"Hello, Juliet."
Juliet takes her cue.
"It was nice to meet you all. Hopefully I'll see you again soon."
