Well, as she has recently discovered, hugs are good, so, yes please. (With needles carefully held so they won't injure either of them.)

Excellent.

And while this is very pleasant. "...knitting?"

"Knitting! Come on, let's go back to your room."

She nods, relieved that they're leaving the more public areas of the school where they might run into other people. She isn't quite following Edie this time, more walking beside her.

Progress!

Edie maneuvers them out of the way of people again.

Blaze noticeably relaxes when they get back to her room. (It's nice having a place that feels safe, somewhere she feels she could retreat to if she needed to, although it's an entirely new feeling.)

And then they can attempt to puzzle out the knitting book.

Blaze finds it strangely fun, and not as frustrating as she'd normally find not managing something. (It helps that there's someone else learning with her, that she's not getting in trouble whenever she messes up.)

Edie elects to start very simple with a soft blue scarf.

Well, that certainly seems to make sense as a first project, so Blaze copies that, except in red.

Knitting is strangely soothing, the repetitive motions, the slight click of needles together. And the satisfaction of seeing the scarf start to take shape.

It's pretty great. Edie was not expecting this! Yay for pleasant surprises.

"Thank you," she says quietly after a little while. "This is...good."

"You're welcome!"

Eventually, Blaze starts getting hungry again - although she is distracted enough by knitting to not immediately notice until her stomach gives an almost embarrassingly loud grumble.

"I'll send Emily for food again."

Blaze half goes to argue, and then hesitates. It was nicer not having to worry about running into people. "Okay," she agrees quietly, focusing on her knitting again.

"You okay?"

"M'fine," she says quietly. "Just. People running around after me. Feels. Wrong."

She hugs her.

She leans into the hug, hugging back.

Different people have different needs. If yours involve not being around other people, that's fine.

She snuggles into Edie. I- if you. Say so. (There's just too many things to watch if she's around other people.)

Snuggle. I do. And I'm right, because I'm awesome.

She giggles a little again. You are, she agrees.
