Does Desna, Who guides the voyager from the far seas, to fill our ports with silks and spices and porcelain, wish us to be poor? No! Does Shelyn, to Whom all art and beauty is sacred and Who wills that all should have splendour, wish us to be poor? No! Iomedae-- even Iomedae!-- whom many slander in the name of praise, thinking that she wishes all to live as paladins and to give all they have to Lastwall-- was herself the paladin of Aroden, god of wealth. Brothers, all men will agree that the greatest blessings of all are HEALTH and WEALTH. Are we to suppose that the gods, Who give us healing, would be so cruel, so negligent, so ungenerous as to make no provision for us to grow in prosperity as well? No! And this pamphlet explains the SIMPLE and INCONTROVERTIBLE laws of nature, as inevitable as the sun's rise and set, that lead Good people to wealth-- the laws known to all in Lastwall, which lead to that fair country's well-known prosperity. -- Prayers have wings when they come with gifts! Simply hold the money close and whisper to it what the gift is for, and as the money clinks into the jar the blessed words themselves rise to Heaven and to Elysium. -- With every gift you plant a seed. You must be patient. Each plant ripens in its own time.
