Temple and Aaron fall into Hyrule
Permalink

There is a peaceful hilltop in the southwest end of the Necluda region.

It's not a very interesting hilltop. No grand hero's quest started here, no dramatic confrontations or great feats of magic happened here, there is not even a farmer or lumberjack plodding out a steady living. It's just a hill, and the most likely thing a hero would want to do here is leave. There's grass, a few trees. A patch of woods, a river, and a swampy area border it. Mountains and the river block the south as a direction to leave it.

But this hill is about to have something interesting happen to it...

"Cool, do you mind if one you drinks it while I'm watching? See if there is any difference between the effect on you and the effect on us."

"Certainly! Experimentation, ho! We don't have much of a materials budget though. Or, uh, any materials budget at all."

"Understandable. Just a sip should be enough. We probably should figure out how-to-money here sooner or later."

"That can wait at least a little bit..."

Experiments ensue. Stamina potions have the same effect on Hylians and the visitors, but you have to drink a certain minimum amount to get any effect at all. It's almost like the stamina comes in chunks.

Purah doesn't see any interesting magic effects going on during a stamina-using ritual.

"Do you have any idea if potions work for animals?"

Symin answers. "They do, mostly, but almost all animals hate them. And it's a bit of a waste, honestly."

"I'm just trying to map it into our system. We can transfer lifeforce to and from non-humans but it doesn't always work properly."

"Fascinating stuff."

They can have intellectual conversation about magic for quite a while if nothing interrupts.

Temple is sure interested in that! He might lose the track of time.

Symin gets out snacks. The Hateno researchers learn a few basic rituals. The Greywards learn how to do a basic magic scan in the local style and how to make elixirs a little better.

Exciting!

They are thankful for the snacks!

Purah is much smarter and more mature than a ten-year-old. Do they never ask about that?

Eventually, Aaron notices it first (Nothing can distract Temple from magic) and then asks if that is common.

"Ah, no... There was a bit of an accident during an experiment with the de-aging rune I found..."

"Wow. What did it do exactly? How long ago was that? Do you know if changed your lifespan?"

"I haven't dropped dead yet, which is a good sign! I feel as spry as I did when I was thirty. There's no good way to investigate the issue further. De-aging runes won't work on animals, and I won't risk someone else getting trapped in a child's form. Maybe with a few hundred thousand rupees' worth of equipment and staff I could figure out what went wrong... But as it is, I'm stuck like this."

"Uh, one can use sorcery to extend their lifespan, in theory indefinitely. But the result is the person being youthful twenty-something looking... There is probably some sort of analysis that can figure out the traits of this de-aging safely."

"Hmm, mm, I don't think we have the resources to safely investigate that... I'm certainly not going to use it on anything else..."

"I can drop the subject if you prefer to. But I wouldn't be surprised there is something to be done about it with sorcery."

"It's kind of embarrassing, that's all. If you have passive scans you want to try I can load it into the Guidance Stone..."

"It would be fairly easy to figure out how much youth you have and possibly if it's doing something unusual like not slowly erode away like normal youth does."

"Okay, we can take a look at least."

There is a direct contact lifeforce "touch", but that might be too risky... well, he figures a simple ritual that he can boost with his wakefulness and youth gifts.

So does Purah have a ton of youth? Or maybe he youth behaves differently?

...She's got a ton, and she's making more at a steady pace. Somehow.
