That's good. Thank you.

My pleasure. What exactly did you do? So I can explain it at need?

They can no longer identify Elves - you could literally tell them you are an Elf and they could not use that to conclude that you're an Elf - and they can't hold opinions about what Melkor's orders or wishes are.

That would do it, I guess. Until the Enemy changes the oaths.

Yeah. I'd have to think of something else if we start finding orcs with different oaths.

I expect this avenue of attack did not even occur to him and he'll make our lives harder. Just means we need work fast, though.

Well. Let me know if there are problems that can be solved with fire.

He laughs. You will be the first to hear about them.

She briefly ignites her hair, then turns it off again, and goes back to sit with Aleko.

The Elves go out for more orcs. It takes a few hours.

When they bring in orcs Kiri revises the orcs.

"We're scouting places to build a city," Fëanáro tells her when she finishes. "How should you change the strategic considerations?"

"...I don't know what the default strategic considerations are. Uh, you know my range with the fire stuff, it applies in all directions..."

"Next to a lake: advantage or disadvantage for you? Can you heat metal so we don't need forges?"

"Lakes are fine. I have a pond near one of my houses. And yes I can, limits of attention and my lack of expertise at forging metal apply."

"We'll have forges but not bother with fuel, then, which will help us tremendously. Thank you."

"You're welcome."

"Made contact with some locals. Told them not to assume unarmed orcs are hostile and to use osanwe to check. Can't do much better than that, frustratingly."

"It's something. - these orcs probably should be kept well away from Melkor."

"Yes. It'd be nice to have your capabilities unknown to the Enemy."

"Yep. Um. Let me know if you need that enforced, if they're not already cooperative enough - I can't really talk to them, they can talk to me but it's not enough if they don't think of what I happen to want to convey."

"The Enemy can read minds too, I do not think that would suffice to keep the secret from him."

"I meant enforcing them not going to him."

"I don't think they will voluntarily, don't think they like him, but it might be worth it anyway."

"If they don't like him they might agree to having it blocked, that would make me feel better. I'd only done tiny bits of active mind magic before I got here and it was always - addicts and stuff like that, people who were desperate enough to ask and take the risk -"
