Lídia is the daughter of a minor baron in Ravounel. So her rank does not oblige her attendance at the Convention. But Lídia is an ambitious woman, and so it does not pass by her notice that everyone of higher rank than her father is obliged to attend. It's not going to be more of a deathtrap than Abrogail's court, but - unlike Abrogail's court - all you need to do to get an invite is to have more underlings saying you should go than anyone else in the county does. This is quite achievable for Lídia's father, who simply orders everyone in the barony to vote for her. Select bribes and threats to relevant parties yields a healthy number of neighboring barons who do likewise, and scares off most of other possible candidates. The rest is a simple matter rigging the election, which isn't hard, because no one expects it to be fair in the first place. When all is said and done, Lídia has a guaranteed spot to go rub shoulders (and more) with all the upper echelons of Chelish nobility, many of whom are newly single on account of their spouses having died in the war, or not having been resurrected along with them, or having been executed for crimes against one crown or the other. Lídia will have ample opportunity to seduce her way into whatever position she wants.
