Milliways: the bar at the end of the universe. It's a bit crowded today, with a group of brightly-colored lizard people taking up several of the tables in the main bar and a more usual assortment of patrons scattered densely around the rest of the room - well, except for by the fireplace, where one patron is being given a somewhat conspicuous amount of space - perhaps it's the intimidating all-black outfit, or the way she's muttering to herself as she reads from the book she's holding, or the almost feral way she looks up when anyone in her field of view moves too quickly, but no one seems to want to get especially close to her.
"Our world has magic; only a very few people can use it. Those people are Sith or Jedi depending on how they're trained; Sith draw power from their emotions and Jedi don't. There's a feedback effect, for Sith, so they end up more emotional than people who don't have a connection to the Force - angrier, usually; it's easy to upset Sith, and they're more likely to lash out if you do. Avoiding certain Force techniques helps; practicing self-control helps; certain meditations can make it better or worse."
The droid cocks her head slightly, confused.
"She didn't have a choice about it - the Sith are at war with the Jedi; she's from Sith territory, so she's a Sith."
She considers the second question. "I don't think she minded the effects until her master started assigning her things that worsen them."
"Freedom. Place've my own. Not - " she looks up at the crowd, for the first time since he's been watching her, and her pupils dilate and her breath deepens and she tenses, just a bit, giving the impression of a cat watching a squirrel just on the other side of a window; it takes a moment for her to snap herself out of it, and another moment to speak again. "Not that."
Felix looks very ashamed and concerned. "Oh, I am sorry. It's just... my world doesn't have droids and from my perspective the term 'nav droid' could either apply to a person or a non-person... much in the same way the term 'organism' could apply to a person or a non-person."
DZ has a pretty good idea of what Deskyl will need - a meditation room and a sparring chamber and at least one workshop; the hydroponics bay can be small and should probably be automated if that's easy enough; doesn't need much of a sound system but what it does have should be very clear, or just go with visual displays, those are probably better; any vital or hard-to-fix equipment that runs along the hallways should go in the floor or ceiling, not the walls, or be shielded if it has to go in the walls for some reason...
And so the droid launches into the requested overview.
Their world: is a mess. The issue with the droids is the tip of the iceberg; there are humans and other sentient species being enslaved, too, both outright and de facto on worlds where resources are scarce and powerful people can control them. The Sith and their empire are at war with the Jedi and their republic; being well back from the front lines and not particularly interested in the details of the situation, neither of them knows much about the Jedi side, but there is a rumor that they recruit their force-sensitives as newborns, which the Sith makes an expressively disgusted face at. The Sith side isn't even arguably better, though, unless one happens to be a Sith themselves; they're allowed to do just precisely what they can get away with, and their powers mean that they can get away with very nearly whatever they please, in a culture where cruelty is seen as a natural expression of power. And then to round things off, the droid gives a basic description of the Hutts, who aren't particularly violent but have few other redeeming characteristics and are even more inclined to slave ownership than the rest of the galaxy.
