Statement from the petitioner: "I know it's what sortition is about, but I'm just not qualified to run my committee."

Statement from the other committee members: "Green Fate is having some self doubt, but we all really believe in em! E can do this!"

Argument for: Citizen Green Fate has not been selected for sortition before, and has never chaired a committee.

Argument against: Citizen Green Fate's replication work on static vs sun-tracking solar panels puts em in not less then the 90th percentile of qualification. If Citizen Green Fate withdraws their committee will be dissolved for the remainder of this legislative session. The other committee members unanimously voted to appoint Citizen Green Fate as chair and unanimously oppose eir withdrawal.

Statement from the District Prosecutor: "On or about 3/3/35 Citizen Father Downy Beard was attempting to remove rust from a cast iron pan via electrolysis in a public workshop without observing the typical and appropriate health and safety precautions. The resulting explosion severely damaged a vent hood and destroyed assorted glassware. Citizen Father Downy Beard was sentenced to court ordered chemistry and safety classes, debited for the damages, and banned from the public workshops for a period of three years. The prosecutor's office does not oppose waiving of the remainder of the ban."

Statement from the District Defender: "While Citizen Father Downy Beard did not use all the typical safety precautions, the safety precautions E did use were sufficient to prevent injury to themselves and others. E has also completed all the required safety education and successfully demonstrated electrolytic rust removal under supervision. The defender's office supports waiting the remainder of the ban."
