a half life, a cursed life

Wow. Killing people is great. He missed having this surge of power at his fingertips.

He's tired of stalking Lily. He wants to make sure she's okay (that everyone knows she's his) but he doesn't have to keep an eye on her all the time. After he kills Tintin, he mutters in Mandarin until he figures out a rhyme and then tells his magic that he wants it to tell him if Lily is scared or upset and where she is.

Then he goes back to the cafeteria to eat some of the food. (There's so much of it. He's never had this much food in his life.) Then he sits down at a table and starts looking around for something fun.

This girl is pale even for a white kid and has a spider on her face she isn't remotely reacting to, and is cursing softly to herself in a mix of languages including Mandarin after nearly colliding with someone else while maneuvering her lunch tray. Is that fun?

Potentially.

"Hello," he says to the girl.

"Hello. Try to steal anything off my tray and I'll kick you in the knee."

"The food's free."

"I don't know if you're saying you don't need to steal from me or saying I shouldn't complain if you do. Whatever. Hi, I'm Lusi, what's your name."

"Xue Yang." Why would he steal it if it's free?

"Hi, Xue Yang, are you curious about the spider or am I just attention-gettingly pretty."

"Don't flatter yourself."

"Flattering myself is free."

"No one else will do it."

"As far as you know."
